OK, that explains your exhaust housing issues then! My 540lbft TS uses an OEM exhaust housing.

newbie to EJ207
Yes, that is the one. Is that a special ECU and will it work in a GGA wagon?
Thanks, Mario |

The ECU is immobilized and therefore paperweight, because there is no photo of any keys, etc.
The code on the engine timing cover is not in the normal parts software, but the S cars are not there. I think they were built and sold by Sti, not by Subaru. The rest of the parts suggest an S car. Try to get a photo of the front of the turbo, or the back of the turbo without downpipe. If it's a VF42, even if it's not an S car, you've got most of what that is all about. You will still need to buy a JDM ECU, to run it. |

I heard there is a way to get into the ECU and get around the immobilize. What I am hearing from you that is not true.
Thanks Mario |

Well, what you're "hearing" from me, namely that the ECU is immobilized, is true.
Also, while nothing is impossible, this thing will require a reverse-engineering effort from a team of people, with extensive debugging of the final product. Once this is complete, a highly desirable product will be available, everybody is looking for these. Nobody sold or mentioned buying, or posted seeing working one of these. Once you have the technology, you'd want to make money with it and then people would start to see these "jailbroken" ECU's on the market. I have not seen one yet come for sale, with someone vouching that their car ran with it. Also, whatever was possible in the "golden days" of Ecutek, may only be possible for the first generation immobilizers, upto 2003. these were much more simple, and.. who knows, maybe only software needed to be defeated. Here there is plenty of hardware.. Good luck to you with the ECU anyway. |

Or you could send the immobilized ecu to whoever told you there is a work around and see what happens. Let us know how that works out Last edited by D-Rodman; 12-13-2013 at 09:28 AM. |

ANy info on that?
The heads are not off yet and I am expecting it to be diff, but need to know a little info on them. I did some tuning on them and the engine seems more efficient than the JDM Legacy Engines 2004+. Last edited by west_minist; 12-25-2013 at 08:38 AM. |

So, I was curios about the statement that I found in Wikipedia, regarding Subaru and "versions", namely that Before the GD body, there were versions (and revisions) and after the beginning of the GD body, they only used the revisions.
I decided to check this. The first thing that I found is that there never was a badge, or sticker for a pre GD body, that would advertise the "version", the way an EVO advertises its "evolution" number, overseas. The interesting part is that all the other things are advertised on the car and they (Subaru) like long, convoluted names. WR Limited, Prodrive edition, etc, all have badges. While the internet is full of GC8 lists of bodies, with versions spelled in a column, I wanted an official document, someplace where the factory actually put the "version" where one can see it. I wanted evidence that it actually existed. I looked at VIN decoders for GC8. There was no reserved digit for version. So, I found a list of GC8/GF8 cars at the Sti site, that has version numbers in the table. So, if you were a JDM Sti owner, you would get to see "officially" what Subaru designated your car to be, version-wise, when you go to the dealer, to buy parts. The chassis number, when put into the parts computer would then bring up your "version". Probably the new car factory documents would carry that as well. The page can be found under "the bloodline of Impreza Sti version" and it belongs to/was published by Sti, the company. Anyway, so this brings me back to the "New Age Impreza", the GD body. In the factory documents, there is no more reference to versions, the parts don't make reference to versions anymore. So I was able to verify that at one point there were versions, but they stopped with GD. In the process of doing this research, I saw that both GC8 and GDB ended at revision G. I wonder if GRB will stop at Rev G as well.. |

Subaru used the version name on their sales brochures. The way to determine the version on the car itself was to use the year date letter in the model code letter on the VIN plate.
The newage cars dropped the version numbers and went to MY designation, again this is shown on the VIN plate via the date code letter in the model number. Brochure for one of the cars I owned, Impreza WRX Type RA STi Version 5 Limited. The badge on the dash didn't list the version number, but expands on the name further by adding 555 Subaru WRC Limited Edition. On a separate note, I have a spare MY05 JDM STI Spec C ECU (none immobiliser) with EcuTek licence installed. Where would be the best place to advertise this for sale? |

You will get the most customers by advertising in the classifieds section under engine.
If you have a way to get an Ecutek dealer remove the license, you will increase the value of this greatly, for sale in US. |
