On a scale from 1 to Screwed..
I just bought an 08 sti (single owner, florida kept, 28.5k original miles) that needs some TLC from sitting its whole life. Here is where things get slippery - I stole (purchased) a set of 18x9.5 +30 wheels. I just did a test fit yesterday and found out I need a 5mm spacer so they can clear the brakes. The left rear shock is completely blown, soaked in oil. I bought some coils that'll make it on the car soon so I'm sure this will help. What do you think I need to do fender/tire wise to make this set up work? This is going to be a very long term project that will evolve over the years which will someday include either flares or a wide-body. I'm okay if this first wheel set up isn't optimal for handling. The car is sitting at my friends shop where I get to go wrench whenever I have time. Thankfully I have no rush on needing it drivable tomorrow lol This sti was me and my brothers favorite car back in the day, and he's about to embark down a very intense path in the military. I bought this thing to keep me and my mind very busy - and to build a beast for him to come home and get blown away by. Taking it all as a learning experience. Appreciate any and all help

Wouldn't it be easier to just sell those wheels and find better ones or even just run the stock ones till you get the ones you want? |

This is what I'm going to do..the later part of your reply that is. I found a local buyer for the wheels and fortunately won't lose a penny on the mistake. The hunt for new wheels begins

Anyone know of some 5x100's that look like the '15+ BBS Limited split 5-spokes? Basically looking for BBS RF clones.

Rota 18x9 tire suggestions
What's going on dan, I read your thread about the different set ups and tire sizes. I recently bought some rota f-force wheels for my 11 sti hatch. The specs of the wheels are 18x9 +30, I was wondering if you had any suggestions on what tire size I would be able to run and be fine with Fitment? I'm pretty positive the car is at factory height. I have been using the stock wheels and theres a pretty solid gap from top of stock tire and wheel wells. I simply dont have much knowledge on tire sizing, looking for any suggestions. Thank you in advance, justin

18x10 +44
I have a set of TE37RT in 18x10 +44 with 265/35/18 tyres and they are hitting my coilovers on the 2013 wrx. Is there a way to fit them beside getting spacers? will the STI alloy lower control arm, adjustable whiteline bush and anti lift kit help to fit these wheels? Thanks

I've been searching but with the photobucket issue it is hard to look through old treads. I am looking for a picture of a stock height WRX hatch with Rota Grids in 17x9 with a 255/40 tire. Wanting to see fitment!

I'm fairly certain this has been asked already, but I tried to search in the thread and nothing definitive came up, and seeing as there is 188 pages, I doubt I'll find it.
Anyway, I'm looking at pulling the trigger on Works CR Kiwami in 18x9.5 +38 with 265/35/18. Would this set up work without rolling? Also, I will be replacing my suspension with koni and swift sports springs, so it will the lower the car by an inch I believe. |

The wheel style doesn't matter (much). You need to roll the rears. Fronts should fit. If you are also thinking of getting some camber plates up front and rear lower control arms then you can dial in camber to make it as flush as you want. |

What about those of us who want the most sidewall possible for rallycross - I'd like to run the 15x7 (+15mm) Sparco Terra on my 2014 WRX hatch. According to my maths, the offset would make the wheel flush with the fenders, but I have been told not all 15" wheels will clear the 2011-2014 WRX front calipers. Are there 15" wheels that are known to clear the front calipers? (talking about the wheel hoop clearing the diameter of the brakes). Or do I need to run a 16x7?

Im looking to run Cosmis Racing XT-006R Hyper Bronze Wheel 18x9 +30mm 5x114.3 on my sti hatch with 265/35/18. Would anyone know if these would fit even if i have to roll fenders? I want tongo wide without really widebodying the car.

First off awesome write up! Exactly what I was looking for, just have a couple questions. The grey sti on the first page that has the 275x9.5 r18 +40 with the swift lowering springs is basically the exact same setup I would like to do with my wrx, but I didn’t see if you had to roll the fenders for that setup or not? Also since there’s such a limited selection of +40 offset rims that are that size would a +38 with 265s fit? Or go down to a 9 inch rim with a +38 to +35 offset? Or would that not work...

Currently I am running Dunlop ZIII 235/45 17 on the factory 17x8 wheel. I have a set of Weds TC005 18x9 +44 and I am contemplating tire size. Do I run the 265/35 18 or the 255/35 18? I know there is only a 1.2% difference in circumference between the two. Ideally I'd like to run a tire that is 25.3" on the wheels. The car is on factory suspension ( coilovers are planned at some point). Thanks! |
