That's an insane amount of work and fabrication......and I'm still reading.

While I think it's very very cool...the frustration comes from wondering if it will ever feel like it "should have come that way from the factory". I wonder if he'll be frustrated with the way it drives with all of the little quirks, etc. that come from custom work and fabrication.

But I would take the quirks and frustrations! Very wild.

I wonder if he should have bought a used old corvette and stick that LS1 in there.

If you think that's cool you should also check out the thread on the '94 Acura Integra GSR. The guy converted it to a mid-engine rear drive H22A powered daily driver.

It's got a fill interior and looks completely stock except for some very nicely done side vents and modest rear fender flares to help feed air to the rear mounted motor. It's rediculous and he's been working on it for close to 2 years or something.

While that is one of the coolest conversion I have ever seen, I can't help but ask why?

It's pretty cool but that's a lot of work. Especially considering that you can buy a bolt in kit to put an LS1 in an RX7 or a 240.

Very impressive work for a kid. He made lots of mistakes, but kept on plugging away. It certainly takes me back a few years. I've built many cars in my lifetime, but I always buy a donor vehicle or two. It's way easier than fabricating everything by hand and way cheaper in the long run.

I'm curious why he chose an RX7 IRS, if I read that right. Vette or older Jaguar IRS works very well and is much stronger. I really liked the old Jaguar IRS, but I suppose it's getting hard to find.

Probably for the width. I would assume that an RX7 is pretty close to the same width so he won't have to have custom shafts made

Well, his grammar may suck occasionally, and his spelling gets atrocious at times, but he seems like a very, very intelligent "kid". I hope whatever he does in college leverages his creativity and spatial reasoning, rather than waste it. cough*mechanicalengineer*cough With that kind of determination and drive, he's going to do just fine.

I just shot about 3 hours reading through some of that thread. Spectacular work and craftsman ship, but I almost would love to see a brake upgrade and a a turboed motor inside that spectacular shell/body. That said, what he has done is an amazing amount of work.

Compare and contrast that with the jagazzz last week who put his Hacked together Sentra with the huge turbo up for sale. Attitude is Everything.

So, basically this Acura swap is just relocating a sidewinder Honda 4 banger to the rear of the car? It doesn't seem anywhere near as complicated as an LS1 in a Prelude.
