I have a question and need some opinions. As you know I have the original motor in the car.. but I am thinking of Rebuilding it... Its not tired, still has Leak-down and Compression all within Factory tolerance... Its Protuned with the mods that are on...
-New/Refubished VF 48 with 11 Blade Billet wheel -Grimmspeed Ltd Downpipe with Cat -Grimmspeed 3port -K&N Intake -Larger VA/RA 2019 Intercooler -AP with PRO TUNE and 21.5 PSI.. no Corn -Upgraded Walboro 255 FP. My Question is: If I Rebuild/Overhaul the ORIGINAL motor with new OE Pistons, ACL/King Bearings. Upgraded Nitrated Crank. ... Can I expect to see a good return in the Long Run---Being the OEM block. I would Re-Fresh the OE Heads.. probably with new Springs at least.. maybe OEM Sodium Filled Valves/Buckets. Remember I am Utilizing OEM+ Theory ... so if there are better OEM components.. I wanna know . I know I can get a RA short block... But I also want to keep the originality Let me know your Thoughts. PFA Bill |

Rebuilding a Subaru short blocks doesn't turn out good most of the time. I suggest a brand new Type-RA SB when your becomes tired. No reason to replaced it until then.

Agreed. I've known too many people who pulled apart a decent running car only to spend a bunch of money to produce a not decent running car.

Ya, I would just get an RA/2019+ block if you aren't looking for big power. Unless of course you have an excellent engine rebuild shop you trust that does great work, but even those usually cost more than an OEM block.

Wahoooooooo SUCCESS.... I now have a up-to-date Homelink mirror operational in my STi... New Garage door opener was not compatible with old Homelink.. So I successfully upgraded... and is NOW working perfectly. Special Thanks for www.bobsmirrors.com for the conversion power cable to get the new mirror working ..

Found this link while pondering if I should pull the trigger on a JDM GF8 and relive years past cursing the cheap plastics of a JDM swapped GF wagon.
From one OG to another, love that you bought your old car Bill. I'll keep checking in on this thread from time to time. |

Great looking blob eye! I have been trying to find one but being in the north east most are in really rough shape. They all have so much rust underneath.

Thank you good sir.. I think its coming out nicely.. now, hopefully I can keep itin this condition. One more round of detailing... *touch-up or Respray the front bumper and a good ceramic coating.. should do the trick.

So I have a couple of ideas...
Thinking about polishing out these wheels.. to a mirror finish.. but leave the inside of the spokes as the are.. so the face of the wheel and lip will be polished out... What do you guys think.. The other Idea is a mod I did originally to the wing.. I put a lip spoiler on the wing Like on a M3 trunk.. I did this mod and it stabilized the wing flutter..So I know it works.. It was my original idea.. and I want to do it again. Original thread HERE Sorry no pics of it installed.. I think they are on my Picture Drive.. just have to find them. Sooooo yeah. The Wheel polished out the way I am thinking would look very Similar to this 2022 Jeep Wheel.
