Default My Newly Built EJ205, But Building ZERO Oil Pressure?..

Calling ALL subie experts/enthusiasts..

Someone PLEASE help me, and put your two cents in on my headache..

I’ve been building this car slowly for two years bc I’m a broke college student still, and I know that I’m so close. I just want to feel subaru boost again!!

THE GIST:

My freshly built 2004 USDM WRX won’t build ANY oil pressure when priming (PLENTY of priming) for the first time.

I have exactly one 5 quart jug of conventional AutoZone 10w40 in a new ‘06 sti oil pan with a Moroso oil pickup, no leaks, and everything except the crank sensor is connected. Oil feed line and oil filter are also off.. Not a damn drop of oil is coming out of either.

Checked dipstick from when i saw oil, and all the way up to F, and only had 3 quarts in it.. hmm That’s strange, but after pondering for a with the new pan, dry motor and baffles, I prescribed the correct 4.8 quarts to the car anyways.

(I just wanted to see oil moving somewhere at this point..)

Also, I put the spark plugs back in and connected the injectors AFTER I thought my oil was pressurized enough from priming..

Dummy oil light is also on (why wouldn’t it be when ya can’t even reach 5psi..) and I even pulled those two plugs (12mm bolts) facing down in the oil pump to see if there was oil in there.
Passenger side was completely dry (and I mean bone dry) and the driver side had a splash of oil that dropped out..

Now get this..

Nothing even came out of those when I turned the key..

WHERE WAS MY OIL GOING?!

This made my idea from earlier, (while I was priming the car) seem much more believable. It seemed as my 5 quarts of break-in oil was sitting completely stagnant within my newly bored EJ205. Not pumping at ALL. This pissed me off.
What issues could be causing such symptoms?!?! Could I be sucking air from somewhere? Is the oil pump bad? Pickup leaking at seal? Where should i go first?!

Car was just flashed via AP3 with a Johnson Tuning E-Tune specifically made for the mods i have installed on the car.

Oil pump was purchased 100% new, and in a authentic and unopened subaru box.

PLEASE HELP A BRO OUT!!... Even you too UB, hahaha!

I’m going to eat a steak and drink beer to think about it. I’m at my wits end here..

Thank you for your time, and hope everyone is doing alright out there,

Zach

First, was the oil pump primed when installed ? Some oil poured into it and the gear rotated ? I like to use a squirt of 80-90 gear oil, it's pretty thick and won't drain back out.

Also, I just worked on an F150 with a similar issue, they didn't have the oil intake tube bolted in correctly. So it was sucking enough air that it wouldn't pull up the oil when cranking.

If you think the tube and Oring are good, I would pull the oil pump back off, prime it again and make sure it has a nice even layer of sealer between the pump and block.

Man the oil problems just keep coming don't they? I cannot for the life of me figure out where my oil leak is coming from.

Default Oil pump malfunction

I agree. Start at the root (oil pump) and work from there.
