It's funny reading the replies here about the texting/communicating.

I'm pretty solidly in the SMS/MMS/RCS camp. It's what most all of my friends and family use. There are a couple others that I use WhatsApp for exclusively and they are both influenced heavily by their ties to the Hispanic community.

What is annoying is that RCS isn't enabled by default. I've been using Google's messaging app on my phones for a while now. I'm not sure the default Samsung app has RCS as an option which is mind boggling to me. Also did the same for my wife's Samsung.

It's beautiful in every way, from hardware to software. the workflows are the thing that lost me. it's super heavy, and while the outside screen is WAY better then last year.... i just can't see as day in and day out use case for it to pay the extra cost over my s20 ultra. it's a HORRIBLE finger print magnet, the screen is amazing on the inside and the crease is almost not noticeable when using unless in direct sun. it closes soundly, the build quality is WAY better then last year's model.

I think in the end we need the tech to catch up with the form factor. apps, screen usage, workflows for work and personal just aren'tr there yet. and for those os us who have has an android tablet, we all know the interface is not so great. it's almost there, but just not there yet.

i will be sending it back next week

Have you put a screen protector of any kind on your Ultra? The preinstalled plastic one on mine is getting pretty beat up and I'm considering the whitestone dome.

Yeah, RCS had been out there in development for a while, it was supposed to be a coordinated effort between all the major players but they all kept kicking the can down the road. Finally Google said "to hell with y'all, we're taking over RCS and implementing it ASAP because people need their moving dots, catch up if you can, l8r bai" and so now it's a crapshoot on who has actually implemented it in their network or software.

At least Verizon and T-mo play nice together. Have to say I am surprised.

So far the flip the form factor is absolutely awesome. I'm pretty easy on phones so hopefully it lasts for a while.

I took off the factory one and never looked back, i almost never put screen protectors on, I also get rid of phones every 6 months to a year, so its a gamble i like to take. to quote ODB... oh baby i like it raw.

So google has broken their own calendar apparently and I can no longer save reminders.

Edit: apparently it saved 69 reminders since it registered every press of the same button but stopped t responding.

Is it jarring going between the 60Hz cover display and the 120Hz inner one? They really should have made them both 120Hz. It's super jarring going between my S20U and work iPhone Xr. The iPhone (which is a very fluid 60Hz phone) feels stuttery and slow.

I don't know if I can ever get a folding phone. They just seem so thick to me. If you're the type of person to wear cargo shorts all the time then you probably don't mind, but even with my 4XL, it feels cumbersome in my pants pockets. I can't imagine carrying around a folding phone all day.

It'd probably be a good choice for my mom because she always complains that phones are too small and turns the text/icon size to the largest setting so she has an easier time reading. I can read what's on her screen from all the way across the room

Here's an annoying problem I have: YouTube Music has decided that I love the band Seether and I can't convince it otherwise.

I have never once intentionally listened to Seether.

I have never once liked a Seether song.

I have no songs by Seether in any of my playlists.

I have down-thumbed at least 50 Seether songs.

Yet any time I choose "my mix" or let YTM play recommendations... ****ing SEETHER. Always goddam Seether.

I didn't hate them before, but I do now

How the eff do I tell YTM that I never want to hear a certain band???

I really, really hate YTM. I think I'm gonna keep my YT Premium plan because I hate ads, but I'm gonna try Spotify or something.

This sucks.

I have Spotify Premium and find it to be pretty good. Their algorithms have been pretty spot-on for me. It's $15/month for a family plan (up to 6 users) so that may be an option to lower the cost if you have other people that are willing to go in on a plan with you.

If you're a Chase credit card holder, check your emails because they do targeted offers to Chase CC holders from time to time. The most recent one I got a few weeks ago was Spotify Premium for free for 6 months for new users, or 5% off your Spotify Premium payment for 6 months for existing users.

It's also built-in to Google Maps, if you use that. Pretty handy while driving.

I don't knwo if "Jaring" is the word I woudl use, however I woudl say the screen on the outside isn't as bright, or sharp as the one on the inside. and it's noticible. I also kep it at the variable fort a while, and only noticed it while scrolling through insta and twitter. I think the day comes that I have an S20 sized screen on the outside, and double that inside, and you got me on this concept.

thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, my friend. My father, a 68 year old man with bad vision, LOVED the fold, and said he would never fold it up. it's a heavy boy, putting it in my shorts when i was running was almost impossible, had to put it in my back pocket on my shorts and zip it shut

Debating whether to switch from OP 7 pro to the new razr 5g or the z flip 2 when it comes out.

Very happy with the 7 pro, just want something new...

Z flip...unless Moto really ups their game. Current Razr is midrange phone whereas the z flip is pretty close to a flagship. Really it is just missing some battery life and a zoom lens. It has a wide angle.

Is there a special 'Adult' lock out mode I can utilize for my Mom's phone? She's elderly and just loves to 'fix' her phone by going in and modifying random settings- today's adventure included turning on some of the Accessibility settings - screen reader was set to On, but that annoyed her, so she turned the volume all the way down on everything, along with somehow hiding the keyboard. And I live 2000 miles away, so I try to fix this remotely, or I'll need to send her to the AT&T store to get some poor kid there to figure out what she's done now.

Maybe those Old People Phones they sell on Teebee have some 'Mom Mode' that'll keep her out of messing up her phone?!?

<sobs quietly>

Surprised my old pixel 2xl is getting the 11 update. Is it true they finally did away with the back button? I opted to keep it on 10. I tried without but went back just because I liked it better.

On my pixel 3XL

It took me about a week to get used to it but it's a significant improvement of overall OS efficiency and navigation fluidity. Wish they did it years ago
