1062 WHP - back tuning on the Dyno Flash Evo 8
I enjoyed being the world's most powerful 2.0 L Evo 8 for the few weeks it lasted so when my record was beaten this weekend and at the same time I was finishing up getting my car back together I decided to get back on the dyno and try and get back the dyno power record
Just to reiterate my basic power mods for those new to my car 2.0 L Buschur Race Short Block wioth alum rods 9 / 1 compression ratio Buschur Stage II head Gt42 R Shrerer manifold Kansai intake manifold Buschur 3.5" exhuast Buschur race fmic Buschur fmix pipes Buschur cop ignition Buschur mini battery kit Buschur strut bar Buischur MBC Buschur rear mustache bar Shep Trans Drvieshaft shop rear axels AEM EMS 1650 injectors Weldon fuel pump Today I was able to sort out a lot of things as I took the whole day on the dyno To me having a car which runs well is more inportant than peak power so I started at high 800 whp and worked my way up slowly over the course of the day to 1062 whp step by step As always tuning involves comapring A - B and chosing which one works better and doing the mental thought process to figure out what works and what does not work. Special thanks to Master David Buschur for his continued support and guidance. Also thanks to Sean Ivey for some great ideas which I employed on my latest tuning session which worked very well. I found that the car makes more power on street tires. I dialed in the tune to the extent that the car is as smooth as any of my customer's cars - the car runs amazingly clean for a 1000 whp plus car. It was a long 10 hours of dyno work and right now my brain is clouded from lead fumes and loud sounds and a lot of stress. I took the Buschur motor apart myself to have the crank planed smooth, put it all back together started it up and drove it right on the dyno without a drip or any problem what so ever. I tuned it myself and drove it on the dyno myself. I am very impressed with the Buschur motor and all my Buschur parts. We were all laughing how the exhuast flow is strong enough to blow our ventilation fan right over. My next experiment is to try the car without an exhuast just for kicks. I have some boost control issues to sort out and then i am confident I will crak 1,100 whp with ease. I will have to wait to try and reclaim the dyno queen record till later in the week as I have a lot of customers to tune tomorrow and tuesday. We made some videos - part I and then Part II after dinner. I will post them up later. Al Part I of the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFbzY3uD7tY Part II of the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjcoKpny8SA

LOL, I loved the part where you tell the Porsche guy "how about an evo or a sti" and he goes "I want an evo."
... And then pure silence after that, as all of nasioc gets royally dissed lmfao.. And for the record, I'd take the Porsche that guy had over any evo/sti anyday |

Good work man, now the only question I have is..
Why do you always post your dyno plots MPH vs HP, with no torque curve. Are you trying to keep your gear ratio(s) from shep under wraps?? I mean, you literally can't post a less-informative dyno graph than that!! Either way those are big numbers bro! |

Now when you get to 1,400 hp come back and I'll give you props.
Ecotec's outstanding feature to performance enthusiasts is it's impressive strength. GM Racing dynamometer tests confirm that major horsepower gains are possible with minimal modifications. Generating up to a remarkable 1,450 horsepower from only 4 cylinders, the Ecotec 2.2L powers some of the fastest-accelerating front-wheel drive vehicles ever built. Many of the components used in these race engines are production based. The race effort showcases the potential of the production Ecotec to today's sport compact market. Even at the highest horsepower levels, the engine will still remain over 50% of its stock components. |
