On stock headers and intake manifold, AND CATTED, this is about what is expected. Great parts + good tuning = doubt haha
I think it turned out to be one of the best street car setups possible for this power. I wanted to retain the iconic Subaru sound of inefficiency (lol) and not sacrifice drivability with larger injectors, too much lag, or cams forcing me to rev it out for significant power. I'm very happy with the setup, it is relatively quick, makes all the right noises, and will still make it through standard state inspection.

Everyone says that until they try the Holy Header lol

On the 2.5 you maintain very similar spool, but gain a load of midrange and topend, plus a boost in transient response.

I'm sure the Holy Header would improve performance, but I would also sound like any other 4 banger at that point

If you say that, I have to assume you have not heard them in person.

Does not sound like a Honda or Toyota I4 - you absolutely still have that Subi rumble. It just lets you stop using the old outmoded UEL header design that was engineered to aid spool at the expense of topend - you're on a GT30, midrange and topend are your entire powerband. The stock header is only killing power and response, while not even helping spool all that much. I got a retune before and after the headers on my EJ20 setup and the car made more power and torque at the same fuel, boost, and timing, while adding tons of response over the stock manifold, and this was on a VF39. This is amplified on the 2.5L and with a larger turbo.

I think user1029 gained like 70WHP from switching from the Tomei - though his insane setup is hardly typical.

You are spooling way later than Dave D's setup which uses a 10cm 1.5XTR, with an IAG block and built heads with 199Bs. Except he has the holy header. This dyno reads a stock STi around 200WHP for context. Obviously a 1.5XTR will spool faster and make less up top but a GT30 is a GT30.

You're right that I haven't heard them in person, haven't encountered anyone in central Texas with them. Would be fun to experiment and try them out, but $1300 is an expensive experiment.

You should be able to find someone near you to take you for a ride and let you listen to the sound of the headers - they're really popular and have been for like 10 years.

Perhaps join your NASIOC regional chapter - though I know they're fairly dead these days...

I have a few videos of my old car here. You still get a rumble, it's just more refined.

I too have some clips. Cold start and on the dyno - it is an Ej20 though.

But on the same turbo which is the main point and 9 less lbs of boost, oh and without E85 - plus this setup was catted as well

And it's 2022 - everyone know GESI cats these days only rob 2.6 horsepower during a full moon.

And it is a dynojet afterall

If you're dead set on staying with unequal length headers you could check out the new grimmspeed uel headers.

https://notbadmotorsport.com/collect...exhaust-header

Maybe this is just because you're running a SAVCS motor. But i think you're spooling kinda slow. I'm running essentially the same turbo as you in my 08 sti. .83 ex housing, custom rotated set up, tial 38mm wg, 3" catted exhaust, tomei eql headers, flex fuel, NA short runner intake manifold, id 1700's, BC 272's, pocket ported heads, springs & retainers, ect. I hit 28 psi by 4k rpms in 4th.

Potatoflakesti is running a similar set up with a g30-900 w/ a .63 ex. housing on his 2011 sti and he hit 34 psi by the mid 4k rpm range in 4th. I know DAVCS allows for faster spool up. But there seems to be a pretty significant difference between your spool times and mine.

Some pretty solid numbers. You trying to stay at this power level for while?
