Post Quietest, smoothest 2.5 exhaust

I want a low quiet exhaust so I don't agravate my parents, but I also want an smooth sounding exhaust.
here is a gruff ehxaust:
Brrrapapapapapap
and a smooth exhaust:
vroooooomm
It helps if you make the noise yourself.
basically I don't whant a choppy big truck/motorcylce exhaust andy suggestions?
sound clips would be nice

STi is a nice exhaust, but the best? That personal opinion. The Stromung dual tip gives more HP.

I run a 2.25" catback pipe to an Apexi RS muffler. It is very quiet and low and smooth, I switched to this setup after having a really loud exhaust. The RS muffler is chambered and that is the reason it retains some civility.

The Subaru/Brospeed is nearly as quiet as the stock exhaust, but it gives a nicer and deeper tone. Sorry no sound clip.

OK... I have the STi and have heard all the Strogum guys around too.. I would like to see some hard numbers proving that the the Strogum & 2.25" mid makes more Hp than the STi & 2.25" mid. If it is more than 3 hp then maybe it is an issue, but 3 hp can be made up by the driver easily. Plus if sound is the important issue then what is 2 - 3 hp?? If your worring about 2-3 hp then you must be at the very limit with your car... it doesn't make that much difference IMHO.

This is just my 2 cents don't flame me over it. I'm just speaking from what I've seen and learned.

MRT Complete Exhaust. Yep. Perfect sound... 2.25" all the way thru... will not work with your turbo plans.

I have the factory BroSpeed upgrade and it's very quiet and smooth, but does sound nice when you step on it.

A lot of people shun it, and it may not be great compared to Rallispec's stuff or something like that, but I think it's nice.

Hmm... why would you do all of those aesthetic mods before performance. I see some rice brewing.
And it seems you don't know much about cars. Why would buy tires before wheels? You get tires to accomodate your wheels. Why would you buy an AFC mount, and no AFC? Why would you buy an intake if you're gonna get a turbo AND why would you put on headers after a turbo? Do you realize that the Turbo kit will replace your intake? And do you realize that the addition of headers will remove your turbo?
Dude... you are weird.

STI exhaust is quiet, but is only 2.25" ID, so you'll have to look elsewhere for a 2.5" setup.

Then again, I run a 2.5" midpipe into my STI exhaust on a Minnam Stage II 2.5RS with TEC-II. I reach full boost (8psi) at 3100rpm.

The Stromung was reviewed in SCC and found to have the biggest HP gain. Don't know exactly what issue, but I can get it for you.

I agree that 3hp isn't much of a gain, but if you're GOING to spend the money, and if sound is NOT an issue, than why not get the most hp for your money?

Pinochle,

Lots of people buy tires only... I'll be getting performance tires next spring and be putting them on my stock wheels.

First of all I don't have to defend my "car" to anyone, but I will anyway. I want my car to look good. I guess you could say that is my first priority. If you wanna call this rice then so be it. ( if you wanna see my defintion of rice then do a search.) Second the reason I would get a S-afc mount Is becuase I'm ordering from the same place. So I can get everything in one load. Third of all I"m not sure where I'm gonna get my tires, so that is still up in the air. Finnally, Sheesh you'll need to get off my back. This is my plan, not everything goes according to plan. But can we please get back on the topic.

Question

Anyone know anything about the new H6 exhaust from FHI? Its the variable restriction exhaust that keeps back pressure at low RPM then opens up at higher RPM. Being sold on the new H6 Outbacks. The back pressure would be nice on N/A engines to keep low end torque.

The Stromung is a little loud at first (you get used to it) not as loud as many other exhaust systems though. Deep warm tone, not at anytime (or RPM) does it give you the BRAAAP sound. Vroom...VRRRRROOOOOOMMMMM all the way through.

Siper2, if you look at his list of to do's, he plans to buy tires before wheels. Unless he's getting the same wheel size and offset, the tires may become an issue. What I'm trying to say is to get the either at the same time... or get the wheels first. That way he won't have to go through the trouble of the tires not working well with the wheels.
As for the AFC mount... you listed the AFC mount... but no AFC, I was busting your balls about that. That's like me putting an intercooler into my car w/o any sort of compressor.
As for the rest of it... I'm just trying to save you money. If you install an intake, and then get a turbo, you're just gonna take the intake you just spent money on, off. And when you put headers on... you have to take the turbo off. That would be a total waste of money.
Seriously kid, I was just being facetious in my response. Just pointing out that some of your mods don't make any sense and trying to save you some mo'. Take a chill.

my bad.
aren't there any turbo kits that you can use an intake and the turbo?, or do they all use the stock intake? aslo the Asr kit comes with the S-afc I belive.
and I would put on the headers after the turbo kit.

Imprezive,
Okay... an N/A intake would most likely not fit onto your turbo kit. Furthermore, your turbo kit will most likely come with a higher performance intake. They don't use the stock intake at all. You see... it wont fit. You're adding a compressor to the system. Therefore, your intake would most likely mount in a different spot.

As for the headers... with a turbo, you have to reroute some piping to go into the turbo. And then from the turbo to your downpipe, ext. Headers mount directly to your motor. Which has two openings. So pretty much, when you mount the headers on, you have to take the whole turbo system out.

You have two choices... N/A or Forced Induction. N/A... intake, headers, cams, etc. Forced Induction... turbo kit. (Or a custom kit) I hope you understand what I'm saying.

I would just like to say for the record that I'm a complete idiot.
BUt I would like to say something in my defense trey said you could use the cams for a moderatly turbo'ed engine.
see his post here.http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum15/HTML/004033.html
But thanx man you just saved me some money.

STi exhaust comment
I love it and although SCC did quite and extensive dyno testing... they never tested the STi and mipipe combo in there test so there are no dyno charts out there for the STi exhaust as far as I know. No AWD dyno's with in hours of me. Although I will be in Colorado for a week this next summer.
I'd like to see a dyno comparison with stock intake STi can/tip & strogum 2.25" mid -vs- strogum 2.25" mid and Strogum exhaust can/tip. after all the prices are near the same if not the STi & mid is cheaper than the strogum & mid. same diameter.. apples to apples.
I will donate my car for this, but obviously I live a ways away for such a test.

i have the stromung, and it definately flows very good, as my quartermile and lap times will show. when i put it on it was VERY loud, i had never had a exhaust on a car before. but it settled in and became tolerable. i ride in seans car all the time and the one other thing besides how damn fast it is, is how damn quiet it is. that sti makes hardly any noise, i love it, if you are worried about sound then there should be no other than the sti. I cannot make judgements on which flows better cause seans is turboed and mine is n/a but the stromung is definately a great exhaust. im probably going to give the sti a try later after my suspension is all in and will gtech them both (even tho gtech is not 100% accurate). yeah 2-3hp isnt to much to worry about but in the end, every horse counts.
