Just wanted to shout out to WA area folks...

Stopped by Chaplin Subaru in Bellevue yesterday. They had 3 STI's in the lot (4 if you include one that was already sold). I was told by a salesperson there that they only markup $2000. I know that's not all that great, but after reading some people say they are seeing $4000-$10,000 markup, I figured I might let people know what I found out.

2 Silver/Silver Rims
1 Black/??? Rims. (I didn't see it, they told me it just arrived)
1 Black/Silver Rims (sold)

They also said they'd be open to test drives if you were a pretty serious buyer...whatever that means.

And to all those people out there buying STIs. I'm jealous. Enjoy.

They claim some BS of "market value" and the best they could offer was an extra $2000 for my 2.5RS trade-in, so basically $8k markup. I talked to a salesman named Ed, and he was such a sales noob, he wouldn't even let me test drive the car unless I was going to "buy it that day!"

justinleex329-
Do yourself a favor and drive to Newark, Delaware and go to Matt Slap Subaru. -probably a 40 minute drive from you and check them out.

When I went there the other day they had 2 blue/golds and 1 silver/silver.
(sorry bro I took the silver!) MSRP no haggeling no BS.

They even let me test drive one!!!! apparently I was the first one. But now they have the designated "tester car" which will be the only one people will be able to drive.

The test drive was SICK...the sales guy (ask for Robert 302-453-9900, tell him Zav sent you ) had just come back from a 3 day training/driving school with some rally drivers, where he really got to know the car and what it could do. He brought me on some windy (way in the back woods) road and opened her up! we went for a bunch of miles with him driving and then I drove back. Best test drive EVER. I had heard a lot about the STI and knew I wanted one, but after driving it, I knew I HAD to have it!

They were totally no pressure though- they even said "we're a no pressure dealership" and let me leave without trying to make me buy it on the spot. (of course I would have but I didn't quite have my finances straight that day) But I went back the next day after work, and drove home in my new STI.

-side note- Tax in delaware on Autos is 2.5% (no sales tax on anything else!)
Tax in NJ is 6%- you'll save over $1000 right there alone.

I know you wanted the Silver, or at least you said you looked at a silver one (sorry for taking your car) but I know they still have the 2 blues. They had just gotten the silver from another dealer. I don't know if the other dealer couldn't sell it or what, but there's some places in Southern Delaware and rural Maryland that are pretty HillBilly so maybe there wasn't as much of a demand. Call him. Maybe he can locate one for you.

z

PS-all cars have a "dealer prep" -$100 something dollars, "custom pin-stripes"$100 something dollars and "moulding package"(Piece of ****** plastic strip going down the door edge) $100 something dollars which weren't even on the car that are added to the sticker price- don't let them charge you for it! they didn't charge me, but they will try if you don't point it out.

Good luck!

Hey guys, I think that you guys have probably already wrote it but my lazy self didnt look, Where is the best place to get an STi in CAlifornia. Ive called alot of my nearby Northern California dealers and they all said AT LEAST $1500 over MSRP. Anyone have a good idea wher i can get one at MSRP or under MSRP? And also Where is the best place for my friend to get a regular WRX in CA?

Thanks

Bought mine at the Roseville, CA Subaru dealer (auto-west or something in the Auto-Mall) last week. $500 under MSRP. Auburn,CA Subaru dealer (not sure of name exactly) has a Blue/Gold for MSRP.

I called both... MSRP was best deal in Auburn. $500 under was best deal in Roseville. Told them I was ready to buy that night.

Drove to Roseville dealer... signed paper work... drove STi home. $32,400 MSRP + $5995 markup... paid $31,900.

PS - When you call... only talk price with the sales manager. I asked for him... offered him $900 under... he said $500... I said see you 20 minutes.

I enjoy this car sooo much more than my 2001 330Ci (sold on Friday).

Not to burst your bubble...you still got a good deal compared to what many people are charging but-

MSRP is $30995 + $500 destination = $31495
Enjoy though, I just put my Alpine in tonight. speakers will have to wait till tomorrow. You'll enjoy that beautiful music coming from the motor for now.

I forgot to mention, it came with a couple of options:

Armrest Extension
Turbo Boost Guage
Security System Upgrade
Auto-Dimming Mirror/Compass

All factory options. MSRP on Factory sticker was $32,400... I paid $31,900 plus tax/license.

It would make a great 'break in' to drive the car back cross country.... IMHO.
hmm.. and I do not even need any SouthWest ticket
Just a phone call and a hour drive home...maybe I should drive the WRX up and come back with an STi. Now if only I could persuade the CEO

O'Brien Subaru in Peoria has a black one with gold wheels going below sticker. Anyone who wants it call Howard at 1-877-SAVE-AWD. I got mine there and they are a great dealer.

I paid $34,005. That includes Silver WRX STI, Tax, Tag and Title. They also delivered the car to my door 275 miles from the dealer in that cost. The car was bought in TAMPA and delivered to Miami.

I waited 1 month and 6 days since putting down my deposit to get my car.

Livermore Subaru has a black one on Silver wheels. Markup of $5K. I am nowhere ready to purchase so I did not try to pressure the salesperson to see if I can purchase at MSRP or less. It has been sitting inside their dealership floor for a couple weeks.

My gutt feeling is that they may go for MSRP since car is sitting. Less than that I am not sure.

If I was ready to buy I can tell them that we carry a list of dealerships in the Subaru forums and they are classified as a a markup dealeship and if they were to do work with me I can post in the forums and "publish" that they are an MSRP place or even less and see if that makes them more willing.

Cheers

Nick

PS: I already bought my WRX almost 3 years ago from them at MSRP no questions asked so I have no interest paying MSRP there. (or anywhere else for that matter )

I say screw'em. No place that tries to sell for over MSRP should get the time of day, even if they'll bargain down to MSRP. There are plenty of places selling for sticker.

I bought my car in Albuquerque, NM yesterday from Galles and Davis Subaru because my local dealer (Emich Subaru) in Tucson was asking $2K over. I got mine for MSRP, saved about $1000 on sales tax, and got half the break-in done on the drive home.

I can't wait to bring the car in for service and wave at those asshat salesmen.
