Only 20% are slated to come with the gold rims on the first shipment? I would have guessed it would be the other way around given the new launch and the "official" colors being blue and gold. It's good I guess since I'm shooting for the blue/gunmetal combo myself.

Sorry guys, I don't mean to be a party-pooper but I was hoping for a little less ($29,999) Guess I was hoping Subaru would drop one more surprise attack to totally crush the Evo.

Hey, I guess when I think of it....it's not much of a difference, it just sounds better to be under 30 grand. Not bad considering I can go toe-to-toe w/my bosses' $75,000 M5!

Okay, now that I've thought about it......kick ass!!! I'm 3rd on my list...now when are they coming??

Well, if this info is not correct, then we have quite a few liers in out midst.

But, I doubt it.

As far as dropping another bomb on Mits, well, this is like a MOAB.
More power, more tech almost equal in price! Kabooom!
The EVO is still better looking though. (personal opinion)

..well I'd be more inclined to take the word of NASIOC moderators and vendors that SoA have divulged the official price to a select few over a NASIOC member (as of ...err.. today?).

Default It's true!

My #1 salesman in midwest called me today that he received an email from SOA, stating the price at $30,995 and $550 destination charge. He told me i was lucky to place an order, #11 on the list, before these news, now everyone will jump on the STi!!! Just 3-4 more months of waiting

with only 20% of the first shipment having the gold wheels, things are going to be really screwed up with waiting lists if as many people want gold wheels as it appears. I don't see why they don't make sure that the first shipment includes as many blue/gold cars as possible to match with the marketing & magazine cars.

I can only imagine that BBS Japan is having some sort of production problem with the gold painted wheels & but is able to crank out plenty of the silver ones.

the silver rather than gunmetal for the non-gold wheels is pretty lame too, silver wheels are too innocent looking for the car IMHO.

I'm far enough down the list (9th at Van Bortel) that hopefully they'll have whatever supply issues they have worked out so I can get white w/gold like I want. looks like I'll be paying $29,580 + taxes. not too shabby.

For hard-core enthusiasts like myself, both cars will end up costing about the same. If I buy an Evo, I will get all the performance extras but none of the non-performance extras. But If I buy the STi, I will end up paying just the base price because the STi gets all performance-related items as standard.

EVO:
MSRP + Dest = 29,582
Brake Cooling = 149
Front Brace = 422
Rear Brace = 385
Rear Wing = 480
Air Dam = 231
Total Price = 31,249

STI:
MSRP + Dest = 31,545

I wouldn't be worried about being on the list at #26.
It may not look good for you, but there are a lot of people who only say they are buying, but that's doubtful. There will not be that many who will pay the price for this car even at it's shocking low price.
Also, as dealers start to mark the STi up, there will be many on those lists who will drop like flys.
Subaru probably won't do anything to ensure their customers don't get taken. Mits didn't step in and it cost them as many potential buyers were turned off by dealers attitude and high mark up. I like the EVO but when I heard about the prices, I was very uninterested. The markups in my area were rather light $3000-$5000 but even that is too much. It turned people away and many probably decided to wait for the STi. With this announcement of price, the EVO will lose even more sales and the prices should drop. Mits dealers had already dropped prices to MSRP even before
this STi price announcement. But, it may be too little too late.
The EVO needs to drop in price to make it competitive now. That would be a good thing really. It may bring me back, but that's only if the STi isn't available at MSRP in silver with gunmetal wheels. Oh yeah.
