Default Lifting a 2014 impreza

09-13 forester struts fit a 10-14 subaru impreza. The dealerships head technician confirmed it with me today. So just in case if anybody is like me going nuts trying to figure all this out... here it is. Lol I will update with pics whenever I get done buying and installing the new struts. I'll also be trying some slightly larger AT tires on a different set of rims.

this isn't any different than lifting any of the other years in this gen, 12-16.

to do it right you really need subframes/spacers/control arms i believe. for sure your rear camber will be off, and possibly the front.

Sounds like a headache waiting to happen trying to get your tires to wear evenly.

Why don’t you just get a crosstrek?

As far as getting a crosstrek the car I have is what I like, and I don't feel like having another car payment one is enough for my budget lol but I think from what I've researched if I get the trailing arms for the rear it will correct the rear suspension from causing rubbing, and getting the subframe spacers from the forester will help keep most of the geometry inline. But like I said I'll post pics and keep this thread updated, I guess ill also be the guinea pig for these models too.

The point is if you are going to pretty much end up with an XV, why not get the XV?

1. Stronger body/ structural stiffness
2. Better gearing for larger tires
3. Already lifted to the level you are going to end at with all the correct pieces already installed.

I mean I support the intent and modification of vehicles 110%, but when you are going to end up with something substandard to a production car that pretty costs the same..........

paint for the gray cladding would be cheaper....

like i said i fully support just about all mods, but this one makes ZERO sense when there is actually a better factory option to accomplish the same thing

now if someone were to drop an FA20 or FA20DIT and 6speed into an Impreza that would be something...

Crawled up under my car today and was looking around. I'm gonna have to either source some drop brackets and swaybar end links from a forester (09-13) or buy a kit from subtle solutions $$$$$ or Anderson design fab $$$. As far as some measurements go I'll need between 1.5"- 2" to keep suspension and CV geometry inline. Hopefully I'll be buying the forester struts between this coming Friday and next friday. I'll keep y'all updated too. Also if anybody has some 09-13 forester struts or know of somebody who has some to sell let me know cause I'll jump on them to save a few bucks

That FA20DIT and 6 speed swap would be a great combo for this lift.

Have you found any struts to put on yet? What other parts are you pulling to swap? I have a 2013 Impreza that I want to lift.

Default 2014 impreza

I actually super appreciate the leg work you did here. I have a 2014 Impreza that I lifted with 2" spacers. My shocks and struts have 100k on them and I need new ones and it's hard to find equal replacements. Forester struts are 2" taller then Impreza struts and now I know what year I need to be looking for so it should be an even swap. What some may not be considering is that the Impreza is $4k less than a Crosstrek. So by making modifications like this, you get the same type of fit but you pay less for it.

Default Lifted 2013 Impreza

I did mine with a set of 2012 forester struts front and back and a set of 2" subframe spacer for the rear only to fix alignment problems. I went with subtle solution spacers but there are other makers as well.

Did you do this awhile ago? How has this worked out for you? Decent ride? No big issues? I'm looking into doing the same. The original struts on my 2014 have 100k on them and need to be replaced anyway, been wanting a little more height so figure I might as well

Default One benefit I see

I dislike the seats in our 2013 crosstrek and feel the body style of the impreza hatch is much nicer. The ride quality is also way too harsh so swapping struts might not suit me. Wonder if some type of coilovers might fit?
