Default What do you call an STi with a 2.5?

So, if the US STi has a 2.5 turbo, should it be called a 25B?

Or should it be called a "STi Type US"?

If the 2.5 rumors are true, this car could be quite a weapon. What suffix should it get to distinguish it from the JDM and ROW models?

Man If they pull out the 2.5, DCCD option, NO RADIO, I'm starting to get itchy about how soon there will be an alternative hood scoop, and some new tailights available for the 04's.

I'm tired of these 2.5L STi thread. I would call it "2.5BS"

Perhaps I'll get 2.5BS as my license plate.

It amazes me that there are people that say "it is not going to happen" based on......what, exactly?

Did you guys go up and measure the bore and stroke of the test cars in Canada and LA?

It might be as equally unlikely as a 3.0 STi, but until we hear an announcement otherwise, it is certainly possible.

I think a 2.5 STI is unlikely, however, Glenn is right...

Default Based on...

how Subaru is labeling other North American Subies, ie: 2.5 TS, 2.5 RS, 2.5 X, 2.5 XS, 2.5 GT; I think it's safe to assume...

2.5 WRX-STi

Default Countdown begins...

As of this post, it's 161 hours, 56 minutes, and 2.568 seconds until the press announcement at Detroit, and that we find out if it's a 2.0 or 2.5 engine!

2.5BS!

Well, if Subaru does indeed bring over a 2.0 with the projected 275HP - 280HP that does reliably run on 91 oct, it will be something.
I wonder what the turbo lag is going to be like. It seems it is not likely we will get the twin-scroll setup.

Default BTW...

I say there's a 90-95% chance that it will be a 2.5, based on what I've read here and elsewhere...

There have been just been too many people who are "in-the-know" who have stated that it will be a 2.5.

Also, consider this: Both Australia and new Zealand just recieved new 2.5 Foresters this year, but no new turbo Forester—yet...

Both countries have also announced the new facelifted Impreza, but not the facelifted STi version—yet...

I'm betting that both Australia and New Zealand get the 2.5 STI too, and that all four countries (Oz, NZ, USA & Canada) get a low-boost 2.5 Forester turbo to boot. And... the reason that Oz and NZ haven't announced their turbo Foresters or STi yet, is because they're waiting for the 2.5 Forester turbo & 2.5 STi to be introduced here in North America first.

Finally, I bet the Baja and Legacy also get the low-boost 2.5 turbo!

Incoming (and running for cover...)

Well if it could make 280BHP on 91, what would it make on 94?

I should also point out that the aftermarket low boost (~5 PSI) 2.5 RS's make what, 250BHP?

Well, everywhere else in the world is getting 2.0L for there STi, i don't see y U.S will get the 2.5L. And Forester turbo is going to mount a deturned WRX engine, which is EJ20.

It'd be ultra-cool if the US got a special version '25B' (my vote if it happens). Since we missed out on the original 22B, Subaru can make it up to us with it. But I just really doubt that it'll happen. I'm sure it'll be a 2.0 STi, tuned for US gas. Then again, it is a new year and there's always hope.

Then how do you explain as to why Australia and New Zealand haven't announced either their turbo Forester or STi? All the other markets that get the 2.0 turbo Forester and 2.0 STi have already announced those models.

I wouldn't bet against 2.5 turbos showing up in those models.
