I have tried to fit 18x8.5 +47 with toyo 245/40/18, and feel that the wheel is like hiding inside the fender, what do you guys think? Looks kind of weird?

So right now i try to find another set of 18x8.5 with et lower than 47 Which will not rubbed without any fender rolling

How about et 35 ?

Thanks before

Toyo Proxes R1R 245/35ZR17?

Anyone run these on 17x8 rim? Any feedback?

Not many 245/35/R17 tires on the market, but the smaller size should help my 5 speed last longer.

For more context -
* For an aggressive street tire in the summer
* 235/40R17s looks like a good choice, also smaller than stock 235/45s
* Aware speedo will be off..

Can you explain how smaller tires would make your tranny last longer? Not being sarcastic, I'm actually wondering if there is less load on the transmission due to what would replicate shorter gears I guess. I would think it would put a little more wear on everything because you'd have to be higher in the rps than normal to go the speed you want, especially on the highway (I'm aware it would be very minimal)

According to Tirerack, the stock OEM 235/45/R17s are 25.4" and rotate ~824 per mile. The 245/35R17 (Proxes) are 23.8" and rotate ~872 per mile. This is not exact, but close enough...

824/872 = ~94.5%

So with the OEM tires in 2nd gear @7000RPMs I'm at 70MPH. With this smaller tire you end up at ~94.5% of 70MPH which is ~66MPH. Which also means less load on each gear. I'm more worried about load vs wear

Yes but if you were at true 70mph on both tires wouldn't that mean you would have more load on the smaller tires?

It's the other way - bigger tires, more gear load, smaller tires less gear load.

Hey guys so I'm looking to trade my rpf1s for some cosmis mr7 18x9 with a +25 offset.. I have a 2013 wrx hatch with a stock suspension and I ran 18x9 +35 rotas that I had to roll the rear fenders for.. was just curious if I'd be able to run the cosmis with the less amount of offset!
Thank you

Well they are the same width so just see if you have 10mm of clearance to spare when the suspension is compressed.. everyone's fender roll is different and so it's kinda hard to say for sure what will fit in other people's fenders

Thanks for the input i think I have enough room for that! My fenders are flat rolled if that's any constellation

First post!

Hey everyone. So I sold my Civic and picked up a 2012 WRX Hatch and I'm looking at getting back into autocross after a 3 year hiatus.

I've narrowed my tire/wheel search down to a Rota Titan 17x9 for the best tire/weight options. My question finally comes down to the offset choice.

This wheel is available in +35 and +42

I had originally searched/set on +35 Avids but the titan looks a lot better in 17" diameter and is lighter to boot. I've played the Volk game when I autocrossed my Civic and I'm done with expensive wheels for a daily/autox car.

Pros cons of +35 and +42 in 17x9?

The car will never be dumped, probably mild drop once I get the coilover setup for autocross. Thanks all!

One sticks out 7mm more than the other.

You'd probably see slightly better steering feel with the +42 and have less potential fender issues when introducing that drop, although that depends more on tire selection. If you'd prefer to have a more "flush" look, then +35 is the way to go. I used RPF1s in 17x9 +35 and they looked great in terms of flush fitment.

Speaking of which, I am selling my RPF1s with 245/40R17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports which weighs at ~39lbs per corner. Sale thread here

I was thinking that the difference between the two might be my tire options and clearance therein.

After some thought, the two are close enough a spacer isn't out of the question if I'm not thrilled with +42.

I'll be running the 17x9 +42 titans on my '13 hatch with 265/40/17 Federal 595Evos. Car is stock suspension currently but will be on RCE blacks and Konis once winter passes. This thread was a TREMENDOUS help.

Also this site was great for comparing offsets and tire specs (using manufacturer measurements) for clearance. http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

Awesome.

Thanks, I've been using http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whee...cl=50mm&sr=0mm

Shows the difference between the tire position and rim position as well in the same tool.

Pictures of your car on the setup? How does it look on the stock suspension? been debating running the 235 on the 9" wheel for my first season then upgrading once I get some seat time. I'm just really disappointed in the factory offset and don't want to spend $2-300 and on spacers/extended lugs then worry about that. The titans are a good wheel and fix my cosmetic twitch with the car. Subaru could have done a better job on the wheel offset.

I won't be putting the wheels on til spring. I realize the way I worded my post was a bit confusing, sorry haha. I'm on my stocks with snow tires right now.

On page 75 there is a red hatch with 17x9 +45 RPF's at stock height that sold me on the +42 offset. He is on 255/40 Falkens and they run a little wider (10.5" section width) and it looked perfect. The +42 titans with 265/40 Fed EVOS (10.8" section width) should be pretty flush. I'm already prepared to roll my rears if I need to.

Default Guide to fitting wheels and tires to the 2011-2014 WRX

Hey guys,
First post here. I'm looking to get some new wheels for my 2013 spec C.
It's on stock suspension and wanna go with a concave 5 or 6 spoke wheel and a flush fitment; maybe a LITTLE poke if anything.
Would be used as a daily. I have a very short commute. And I'm keeping the spec C wheels for the odd track day.
Keeping stock suspension for now as well.
Was wondering if an 18x9.5 +30 wheel would accomplish what I want ?
Would be using the 245/40/18 tyres for now. I don't mind the mild stretch if it helps with fitment.
Specifically looking at the Enkei Kojin wheels.
I know the offset is low compared to stock but it's the only 5 spoke concave wheel I like a lot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

You are more than likely going to need a roll for the rears....on big dips or with weight in the car you might notice some rubbing...only thing you can do is try it out. Not sure why anybody would WANT poke though lol

I don't WANT poke.. I just wouldn't MIND it lol.
I could live with rolled rears and I'm basically the only person in the cars 99.9% of the times.. lol
Will try it out and let you guys know!

Thanks!

@ scotty_buttons

Say you go with the Enkei 18x9.5 +30 wheel and 245/40-18 tire combination and you get the fenders rolled. Everything may work out for you fine now.

But if you go to a wider tire in the future then you may run into issues. Something to think about now before you commit the time and $$$.
