not all tires are created equal.

within eyesight of a 9.5 +40 wheel, a 265 will most likely require a rear roll.

honestly, if you are looking at 8.5"+ wheels you shouldn't be scared of rolling fenders, otherwise you shouldn't be looking at wheels that big.

If you going with a 9.5 wide wheel and a proper sized tire you will have to roll the rear fenders. Period. If you don't want to roll your fenders don't even consider a wheel this wide. Stop with this offset and not all tires are created equal talk. There's not one person on here that's running a 265 or 255 on a 9.5 wheel on these cars that hasn't had to roll in the rear.

What about 255 or 265 on a 18x8.75?

I'm not scared of rolling them, I merely don't know of a local shop/person I trust currently to roll my fenders properly (which from the sounds of it I need to find if I want to run this size). I understand not all tires are equal, but as the first post states this setup (barring tire variance) shouldn't require rolled fenders unless lowered (which I'm not), so I was hopeful this would fit well (I'm fine with dropping down to a 18x8.5 with 255's if it fits better). I'm really just looking to go up to 18's with as much meat (tire) as I can fit on them without needing to modify anything. The Kiwami's I was looking at happened to be 18x9.5, so based on the first post I thought it would work, it sounds like I'm wrong so I'll have to find someone to roll or narrower rims + tires.

(You may have to do minor fender rolling at the back if the car is lowered. It depends on the tire...not all 265/35R18 are created equal.)

Question

I'm about to buy some tires and would like a bit more info on fittment of wheel, tire and amount of -camber required to fit them without rubbing on a 11 STi hatch.

wheel = 18x9.5+38 (already own them so can't change this size)
tire = Michelin Pilot Super Sport 265/35/R18 (or possible 255/35/R18 if the 265 requires too much -camber)
current suspension mods = KW V3 coilovers, rear LCA's, Com-C front strut mounts, front/rear sways, front roll center adjust
current alignment on stock wheels and tires = -1.5 camber all around
I'm planning to stay just slightly lower then stock, no big drop maybe like 1/2" and would like to keep -camber to a minimum for daily driving.

questions:
will it require just a slight roll or flat for the 265 tire? (I'm not a fan of rolling flat because then the fenders can become flimsy)
about how much -camber will I need with the 265 & 255?
obviously I would prefer the 265 since it's closer to the stock size, but don't want to have too much -camber for daily driving.

Question 17x9 Rota Titan 5x100/e42 with 265/40R17

I have done a lot of reading and searching on here and based on what I have seen I was thinking of going with the following setup.

17x9 Rota Titan 5x100/e42 with 265/40R17 tires

The main reason I am thinking 265 vs 255 is due to the loss in tire diameter with a 255/40R17.

I hadn't seen anyone mention this exact setup so I was just curious if anyone had any experience or input on whether on not this will work well.

I have a 2011 WRX hatch on stock suspension. I do not plan on lowering at all and the rear fenders were already rolled by the previous owner.

Since the fenders are already rolled, I am pretty sure I shouldn't see any issues on the outside, but I am still a bit concerned with the strut clearance on the inside.

You'll want to roll it a good amount. It won't get flimsy.

Stock camber will be fine.

It's only 1.2% smaller. But 265 is awfully wide for a 9" wheel. It'll look pretty bulge-y. I'd get the 255.

That's not going to be an issue.

I sourced a 18x10 + 38 rpf1 wheel that is on its way. I am getting 265/35/18 Potenza S-04 tires with it. I am less than an inch lowered currently on stock struts with Tanabe GF210 springs. I am also getting a roll in the rear that is going to be flat or pretty close to it.

I have seen others fit this set up before but they were on coilovers and I know there are a lot of variables still in play but I just wanted some guidance on things to look out for that I am missing?

And lastly, the famous questions, will this fit/work?

Thanks

Why, why, why are people always asking this about wheels they have ALREADY BOUGHT?

It seems pretty simple to me.

1. Ask question.
2. Get knowledge.
3. Buy wheel.

But for the record, yes, your tires should fit fine on those wheels (although the wheels are needlessly wide), and should clear the fenders. Probably.

You know I tried to word it in a way that showed that I had looked and studied other peoples set up and was very specific about the mods and roll and all that.. I know you must be pretty jaded from all of the questions you answer so I get it...

I added the famous questions line... the will it fit after my original post... I knew it would fit... I should have added a or or something to let you know it was... you know.... a joke .

I really just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. I have contingencies if it doesn't like LCA's but again just trying to make sure I am not missing anything.

Thanks again! I know you do a lot for the Subaru community and I appreciate it!

What's everyone's opinion on nankang ns-20s? Found someone that can get a set of 245/40/18 new for $270, which seems pretty damn good to me. Was originally after 255/35, but hard to pass up that deal.

"pretty damn good deal" only applies to dollar signs, not product quality, not quality per dollar.

does it really matter what we say? keep thinking with your wallet and buy whatever you want.

First thread will answer that... Same size as the STi wheel. If I remember the offset is around 42? So throw a 245/40 on them and you have a stock STi setup...

So Im going to buy Rota torques for a 13 Wrx. They are 18x9.5 offset 35. Im going to roll the fender and my plan was to buy 255/35 P Zero Nero GT tires for it. I already have coilovers. Will they fit without any major rubbing. I been searching for a while but I couldn't find any similar setup.

Thread helped me out so much on deciding for my '12 WRX, going to be running a 265/35/18 Bridgestone RE760 (anyone have any problems w/ these tires?) on my 18x10+38 XD-9s on Isc N1 coils, rolled front and rear fenders. Anyone see me running into any issues?

I have a similar setup except 18x9.5 38 265 35 18 michellen pilot super sports. Front and rears rolled. Lowered to about half a finger gap all around and my only issue is rubbing on the front fender liners near the bumper.
