Kind of late to this thread, I have a Bri-Mar 18FT full deck open trailer, bought it new late 2006. It has been great. Looked briefly at a open deck but thought about towing and trailer movement.

Let a buddy who has a open deck trailer borrow it once, afterwards he said he's sorry he borrowed it, now he knows how much better a full deck trailer is.

FWIW we have an open center 40' Gooseneck, and it tows great, straight as an arrow.

Only thing we are looking for on the next go around, is full enclosed so we can haul more gear and supplies. Probably going to be 48' total with 40 on the floor for room for cabinets, etc.

Had a 40' enclosed 5th wheel for the race car, with a work bench, tools, air compressor, etc. I can see where a 48' would be nice for a golf cart too. We did have two cars in the 40' once, but it was very tight. It also had a 5000lb wench in the floor, that was also handy.

That towed very well behind the 3500 crew cab dually. We bought it used in 2007 from a local NASCAR team. Had it 3 years and sold it back to one of that teams, crew members. Think it was a Wells Cargo.

Nice! Yeah that would be the plan, have a tool box, etc that way we can be set while on the road. Looking at Intech for aluminum body to keep weight down, but also the ability to customize to our needs as well.

I really want an observation deck too hahaha

On my 18' wood deck trailer, I have d-rings bolted through the wood into the steel.

Strap angle aside, with a short trailer your ratchet ends up underneath the car making it a PITA to work with.

For a GD chassis, 18' is the shortest trailer I'd use.
