Their phone was an answering machine. Sent them an e-mail the other day, but no reply. So far, no joy.

Any other ideas anyone?

AvSport is out of town this week so call them next week, Sube Sports sells the Michelin and the Asphalt tire is for a 17" you can get medium or hard compound (this is for michelin at Sube Sports) and the price is 175 each. Hope this helps....

I was trying to understand the Michelin sizing. I have 17 inch wheels (P1) and wondered what the 20 in 20/65 - 17 means. I know the 65 means SLR 650mm, but does the 20 mean 200 wide? if so, sounds too narrow. The Pirelli's come in 225 width, which is about right.

Thanks! I'll hang fire for the AV Sport guys too.

Here's a few suppliers that the Cdn rally teams buys from.....

UK supplier:
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/

-very good but not worth it if only buying 4 tires..... 10+ yes..... very good prices..... Talk to Steve Kerr ([email protected])

but you'll need their catalog cause they don't show 5% on their website......

Also, talk to Frank Sprongl..... Four Star Motorsports (canadian company)

Question

Has anyone here actually driven on tarmac rally tires? How do they compare to road race tires? I assume they're optimized to last only 20-30 miles at temperature. I would guess they have a stronger carcass than track tires, too.

Anyone know?

They're some good points Jon. They do have a stronger carcass, especially the sidewalls, just in case of kerb strikes and the like. The sidewalls on rally tires are actually repairable.

They may only last for one or two track days. Which is good enough for me. I'll see how they are when I get hold of some.

Also, they come in 2 or 3 compounds. Let us know which compound you get. It may be that you can trade a little ultimate grip for a lot more life.

Will do. I was gonna go with a hard for now. I may enter some SCCA events this season too, but not sure what yet. Need to gut my car first to shed some weight.
