Default 2008 STI with halogens?

Super frustrated. Everything I read says that HID are stock. So when one went out I got some D2S bulbs and…. They don’t fit. I have halogens. How can this happen? I bought it used… could they have somehow downgraded?

Yes they could have replaced the stock hid housings with wrx/impreza halogen housings. In fact if the car is a sti then that is what happened.

Was the car originally sold in Canada? I don't think they got the HID's because of their DRL law.
