Question #20 on waiting list.. will i be wating a while?

I put down a deposit for a STI at MSRP through the good people at Santa Cruz Subaru, unfortunately it looks like I'm at number 20 on their waiting list..

Going by the various threads on this board regarding dealership allocation will I even see this vehicle before years end??

i'm guessing you might have to wait a couple of extra months.

the best thing to do is try to stop thinking about it.

good luck.

Won't wait as long as me. I'm not going to order one. I'll wait and see how much, if any, Subaru ups production to meet demand. I won't be surprised if you can find a few on showroom floors, not spoken for, before all is said and done for '04.

C-daleRidr,

Your right on their being STi's on showroom floors. I wonder how many deposits will turn into pipe dreams?

Probably a lot of deposits will disappear, considering most of them are "no money down."

I know I'm not buying an STi unless it's virgin. My STi would have no miles (not more than 2-3 anyway), still have the plastic sheets over the paint, and I wouldn't even let the highschool kids who work at dealership and do the prepping touch it

Then I would probably own it for a whole two weeks until some jealous ahole rips off the wing or it's dented by doors in a parking lot

I have a deposit down with Santa Cruz Subaru also, somewhere around 15th or 16th on the list if I remember correctly. I haven't checked back to see if I've moved up or not, in the event that one or more persons have dropped off the list.

As someone else mentioned though, I just try my best not to think about it. With my current financial situation, my ideal time to buy would actually be around Sep/Oct at the earliest, so a few months wait will be good for me.

Well I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and was 22 on the list but dropped to 20 shortly after, so you could potentially be at number 14 now..

Out of curiosity, do you have a written agreement with them at MSRP, and have they asked you to choose your colors or anything?

If you'd prefer to receive the car later rather earlier due to your financial position then I am willing to sacrifice my number 20 position for your number 16 position..

Ah maybe I'll give them a call next week and see where I stand.

Nope no written agreement and nothing has been chosen. I was a bit concerned at first but some others have told me not to worry. I just hope they live up to their reputation. IIRC they did the same with the WRX when it was released, feel free to correct me though as my memory is not always the sharpest.

We'll see. Depends on how everything turns out for me over the next 6 months or so. Hopefully I'd be able to have one by then, but it wouldn't surprise me if my situation resulted in me not being able to obtain one until early next year.
