Default Ignition key getting stuck

Hello, my mother-in-law has a 2015 Impreza. Sometimes her key will get stuck in the ignition. She said it will get stuck half way. She will need to move the wheel and gear selector for it to release the key. I never have heard of this issue. Does this sound like she need a new ignition lock? What else could this be?

Thanks so much in advance!
Steve

I think this is a pretty common issue actually.

I believe there is a sensor that detects if the vehicle is in park that is the culprit.

Thank you! I called SOA after seeing that people were reporting a technical service bulletin. They confirmed this but said that it is not a recall so I would have to pay as it is not a powertrain part. I saw other people say they just disabled the parking/lock feature.

Thanks again!
