that's actually not a half bad price. i just sold a fellow OTter a 1080 hybrid (aio cooler, Ti speeds, lacks the extra cores) for $265 shipped.

It's about to be two generations behind. I'd wait and try to get a 2080 Super for similar money.

The 3060 will probably be cheaper and betterer.

It was a Ti, but, yeah. The 2080 supers are already less expensive in the first place, though. At this point, I'd recommend waiting until after Tuesday's reveal from Nvidia to see where the market is going.

...and Lian-Li Lancool II Mesh it is. I finally found it at MSRP and (apparently) in stock. Never shopped Microcenter online so we'll see how that goes. Had to settle for the dumb RGB version, but I'll be gutting the fans to be replaced with my Noctua's anyway.

Anyone want a NZXT H510i?

Jamie, time to spend more money if your NVMe drive is a year or two old. The newest ones are boonanners (not that my "old" one was a slouch).

I've got a 970 Evo 500gb as my system drive. It's the only NVMe in my system. It's speedy as F.

my biggest question, in regards to this, is production and availability. launches (paper or not) have always depended on how much they can produce. add in covid and i don't really think we are going to be seeing ~$300 used 2080 supers just after launch.

Nvidia seems to be top billing on any fab they want. Is this one 7 or 5?

Also, tsmc just crossed the billion mark on 7nm. That being said I agree. Seems there will be a fair bit of pent up demand.

Enough to blunt precious black Friday? I guess we'll see what AMD has to say about that.

yeah, big navi...

while AMD has been doing very well in the mid and entry level gpu space, i'm not going to hold my breath on big navi. if it comes out and kicks nvidia's ass? awesome! but it's been a loooonnnggg time since ATI/AMD has been competitive on the high end.

Very true.

Ask me why I'm not planning on anything above the equivalent to a 2070, likely 60.

It really has been a learning experience watching them segment their products.

Pretty confident I'll be able to add them to my, "yeah sure, there's no such thing as inflation", list.

Black Friday has never had anything for video cards besides a free game here and there.

I would like to try an AMD card if they had something to compete with a 3080 but I also don't want to wait any longer. My 1070 is not ideal for my ultrawide.

Interesting observations:
* This came with wrist rests, while the old one that was an add-on.
* I think I do need to buy the lift kit add-on as I like the wrist rests, but now it feels odd compared to my previous non-wrist rest Freestyle 2.
* I went with the MX blue. While I really do enjoy it and had a rush of nostalgia with the IBM clicky type keys.. Wondering if maybe the MX Brown would have been better. Not planning on returning/swapping.
* After reading the manual, you can do a surprising amount of stuff with just the built-in functionality. Installing the software add-on just expands it. Found that to be the opposite of Logitech where you absolutely need the bloatware to do most things.
* Interesting bit on downloads - requiring password (its just serial). Not sure if loose security thing or meant to add a type of exclusive appeal to it.
* Also interesting: keyboard firmware updates

still need to poke around some more. Overall a nice upgrade.

I'm getting used to it a bit but overall like it. Again, I'm using it for actual work purposes so the custom profiles and stuff will likely remain fluff. I got the browns which have a nice feel without being obnoxious.

Note for the lifters there are two types. One requires you remove the wrist rests and the other does not. I got the former. I haven't put them on and likely will not since I like the rests.

What, you mean you haven't had the countdown video page open for a week and 6 tabs currently open on various retailers sites in anticipation of unapologetic pre-order wallet rape within the next 3 hours during the announcement? Just me?

Huh.

It's a fair cop.
