I had an 880, it only lasted a few months before it broke

And when it did "work" it was only spurious at best, locking up, randomly turning off, etc.

As I was scrounging through my A/V manuals I came across something I thought you guys would find kind of neat...

About six years ago when I was 15 my dad had me research home theater equipment and eventually we built it. I found all the literature on this stuff which is amazing to me because this was back in 2002.

- Seleco HT-300 HD projector
- Da-Lite 120" screen
- Denon AVR-5803
- Denon DVD-9000
- KEF THX series 7.1 speaker system

The crap that this stuff could do was so amazing and I never even knew it. My parents divorced and we moved out about three years ago, but from what I was told by our old neighbor, the new owners NEVER USE THE ROOM. they haven't even put furniture in it!

Thinking about it basically equates to:

OMFG! OMFG! OMFG!

Yes! That's right! I just got back from Frys and got me two R300s for 39.99 each

DEAL of the century (for my cheap ass)

I AM SO STOKED. I can't wait to get out off work to hook these baby up!

I'm going to use them as Fronts until I upgrade to something higher and then these babies will be used for Rear Satellites.

What a freakin' bargain.

oh and they have atleast 4 more of them and they're only available in black.

Sale ends TOMORROW!

PS. They retail for 199.99 each (frys price tag) So talk about instant/reduced savings.

To make things worse...I plugged my digital coax cable from my TV to my receiver and I get no sound at all but when I switch back to analog I get sound. I guess nothing is passing through the tv (player->TV->receiver) or I need to dig up my H/K reciever manual.

You're doing it all wrong bud.

Go player-> receiver and totally bypass the TV for sound. You're adding a link to the chain that is unnecessary.

Could have gotten more for cheaper, but ah well. Such is life.

I'd buy a 100' roll for less from monoprice now so when you need to setup the surrounds you have it ready.

16g 100' for $13.37

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

But for longer runs you may want 14g, but eh. Unless your running 50' lengths of wire to 1 speaker you should be fine with the 16g. You won't hear a difference I'm sure

radio shack stuff is about the same price for 100'

hope you like the speakers...

I got the settings tweaked on the receiver and the RTi8s are already sounding amazing!

thanks guys!

I <3 this thread and love you guys

So ...now i'm thinking of what to get next, the Dayton 12" Subwoofer (for 150) or some fronts (again, i would use the r300 for rears).

i just hope my Sony Receiver can push the CSi3 and R300s'!

and speaking of subwoofers...
http://www.amazon.com/JBL-SUB12-12-I...1312792&sr=8-1
The JBL 12" 500 Watt is only 177! so for 27 more bucks (compared to the Dayton) i could benefit from 150 watts to 500 watts.

what would Dizmal and DanzB do?

Dayton subs would be the better choice for HT.

Watts don't really add up to snuff if there is no detail in the bass.

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums...d.php?p=360825

Sounds like one of the guys returned the JBL and just went with SVS on page 2. But there are a few there that recommended the Daytons as other option that would be better.

Watts or RMS isn't a good rule of thumb when considering subwoofers. 150w will more than surprise you.

Heh, I just use a scissors and gentley cut around the casing, twisting and gently cutting, then pull the plastic casing off the end. Works just as well as a wire cutter IME

When I brought my new tv home and set it up to everything else, I passed out from half a bottle of rum before I even finished.

Let's just say my tv wasn't calibrated very well the next morning

TV weighed 196 pounds. It was midnight by the time I had the tv stand put together and the tv on it.

By 1am I was gone

WOW. Re-arranging the entire bedroom and rewiring the speakers (and new ones) took me 2 hours Re-arranging the room took most of the time because I was being very picky and anal on how i wanted the HT to look without taking lots of room space.

I then had to mess with the receiver (auto-calibration just won't do it the way i wanted) for ONE WHOLE hour reading every page on the Manual and got everything just right! (increased all the bass/treble for the fronts, increased the volume and db's on subwoofer, etc).

The system is ****ing sweet. it's BEAUTIFUL. i immediately put "Heat" and the bank shootout scene BLEW.ME.AWAY. it was extremely loud and clear.

it's 3am and i just finished watching a few hd-dvd movies and i'm beat.

i'll take pics and record a video using my digi cam tomorrow to share the experience
