Depends on what you need.

12k BTU single zone units can be found for well under $1k.

2-zone 2x 9k BTU units run in the $2-3k range.

I was just looking at a 2-zone 2x 12k BTU unit for about $2650.

The growing amount of PT wood I need to replace on my deck and on my shed ramp is quite depressing. Also, pretty sure I killed a rather large holly bush with some lawn weed killer due to drift of the mist. It's not looking too good after a few weeks now.

I thought the same thing of my bleeding hearts last year. This year they bloomed bigger than ever.

Wait to see if it's truly dead until next spring.

That's what a friend who has a degree in some form of herbology said. They annoy me in how much I have to trim them, but definitely didn't want to off one or two of them.

My street-side outdoor faucet was working last weekend. The water company came out and replaced our water meter while they were flushing the hydrant.

My street-side outdoor faucet is no longer working, but the one in my backyard is.

Water pressure inside the house is fine. The water came out clean after they flushed it no sediment or anything.

As far as I can tell there is no pressure getting to my faucet. I pulled the valve and turned the water back on and nothing, just a little bit of a trickle that filled up the faucet but wasn't enough to even make a drop come out of the open hole where the valve normally sits.

I pulled the faucet out from the wall and there's a pex connector behind it, and an elbow connecting that to the wall line. Couldn't find a shut off valve or anything for that specific faucet.

Something stupid I may be missing? Or time to call a plumber?

Call the water company. Say maybe it's a coincidence, but....
They might send somebody out to investigate.

Sounds like some crud got into the line during the switchover and ended up in the branch feeding the faucet.

If it is a clog, turn off the water at the meter, and open a couple of the fixtures.

Blow compressed air into the clogged faucets. That might be enough to dislodge the clog. Might take several cycles.

f4 is quoting the price of the unit, not the installed price.

Well f**k. That's double the quote I got for a 2-zone (2 head) system. It was $6k installed.

Yes. If I end up having to replace mine, I'll be doing it myself for about $2600 for the system I have picked out.

Bonus...if I DIY, I'll have HVAC in my workshop.

My 5 head 4 ton mini split system was ~$18k installed, including the mountain-county tax.

I want to DIY mini deck/stairs for above ground pool. Something like that https://www.etsy.com/listing/1074549...search_click=1

Do I have to dig 4 feet holes and pour concrete under every post, to get under frost line in northern Illinois or those $10 concrete deck blocks will be enough?

I did a half deck around our above ground.

Just dug down about 3ft and no concrete.

But of course, no frostline here.

I think those concrete deck posts need to have level and compacted ground, and I think need to be buried.

What about using concrete form tube? Make hole, add gravel and compact, insert tube, pour concrete that you mixed in a 5 gal bucket? Be sure to add fibers or rebar.

What does the rebar do for you in that application?

I wouldn't think a tube form would leave enough space to add rebar without it being too close to the surface of the concrete.

Seems like enormous overkill for such a lightly loaded deck post.

What am I missing?

The chance to waste money by adding re-enforcement to a deck footing.

Most houses don't have re-enforcement in the footings.

overkilled it?

I need to fix the deck footing on my house. The concrete on the top side is spalling. If its just the top and exterior areas, Ill be learning how to resurface concrete this summer.

The only time you need rebar in concrete is for foundations and pads.
You should not have to use rebar in deck footings if you do it properly.

Just rent an auger from HD for the day. Drill down 4 feet. Get quick dry concrete where you just pour that **** into the hole, and then pour a gallon of water. Center your posts. Let it dry and cut the other bull**** out

If you have flat land and want lazy, get a few of those TuffBlocks. They say they can be used/ suitable for that type of ground, but don't blame us if that **** sinks into the ground over time.
