Today I might bite the bullet on an EV. The Kia dealership shows a small handful of EV6 Wind in stock so I'm going to go see if they are truly on the lot. I looked at the ford dealer site and it shows they have a large amount of lightnings but clearly already reserved. I might stop by there first and see if there is a list in case people bail out from reservation but I doubt it. There's also a 2 Mach E premiums that are not reserved.

The reviews for EV6 Wind look solid. While I'm not a huge fan of the overall looks, at this point I'm just looking to cut costs. Seeing as to how I spend $150-$250 a week on fuel that is not reimbursed by my company, and has likely to stay high for several years, I think I just need to suck it up and dump the truck. My biggest concern is seat comfort since I'm in my vehicle a solid amount.

The seats in my wife's Palisade are one of the few things I can't gripe about after driving it on several extended trips.

I thought the "shifter" (buttons) on the Palisade was a dumbass design until I drove the MiL's G70. My God, what were they thinking?

Just test drove the EV6 wind dual motor. 98% chance I'm putting a deposit down today. Only gripe was I wish the seats had a bit more bolstering and the steering column would go lower. Besides that, it handles great, sport mode is beyond quick enough for daily driver, and in my opinion, worlds more comfortable than a 3 or Y and loads quieter inside.

No dealer markups? I really need to test drive one.

Don't think I have the patience to wait for the new Polestars. Their affordable suv is coming out early next year and the sporty sedan and coupe in 2024, apparently.

Awesome. One of my co-workers traded in his 1.5T/CVT CR-V for an EV6 Wind. He digs it.

**** it, put a deposit in. Kia EV6 Wind Dual motor in glacier white with tech package, homelink, etc. $54,500 (msrp). Estimated wait time is 4 months unless someone pulls out on their order.

I think Kia dealers are suppose to sell at MSRP and are not a haggle dealer.

I’m thinking of getting one as well. There are quite a few on the lots here and only a few are over MSRP. One place is even selling a few hundred under. I just found a rav4 prime XSE with premium and it had a $5k markup so that would make it more than an EV6 wind or Mach e premium

I do like the looks, seats, and dash of the Mach E better and was going to pull the trigger before deciding to give Kia a shot. The Kia definitely drives smoother / suspension feels better. Power delivery is more linear but quicker 0-60 (I think). I can't remember if it's for heating, AC or both (think just heat) but the Kia has some feature that makes it so it doesn't use or used very minimal battery and should give more range.

Using the fast chargers it's 10-80% is 19 minutes, I think.

Hopefully I don't regret this.

You're probably thinking of the heat pump:

https://www.reddit.com/r/electricveh..._heat_pump_in/

The Wind and GT-Line AWD have it (like the SV and SL 2013+ Leaf, 2021+ Model 3, iirc, etc.). The other trims don't. It is a good thing to have.

Ahh, thanks for correcting me. Heard that from some reviewer on YouTube who was reviewing the Lightning.

Good luck with that EV6. Gotta say that 18 minute charge time is real nice, plus the whole package really. Styling is kinda ok IMO.

The charge time is completely irrelevant to me. I like the styling of the EV6 more than the Ioniq 5 (don’t like the retro 80s futuristic styling) and the GV60, which is just awkward.

As someone with some experience with these new 800V architecture charging systems, the quote 18 min charging speeds comes with a lot of caveats AND specific conditions, least of all finding a working 350 kW DC fast charger, which can be a challenge in itself in some parts of the country.

This is accurate from what I’ve read also. The Kia dealership is less than 5 mins from the house and they have complimentary 350kw chargers. There’s a few around my house as well. Hoping I don’t regret this decision. Since 90% of the miles I put on are work purpose, it just has to look okay. Comfort, price, range, etc we’re most important to me. EV6 checked the boxes. Worst case scenario, I drive it for a bit, don’t like it and sell it. At home charging is suppose to take 9 hours which is a boner kill.

Assuming you have the ability to charge at home, I don't get 9 hours being an issue unless you're out and about about so much that you need to charge more than once a day and you're not home long enough for a full charge.

I really dislike the ass on the Kia, I was debating trading the wife’s clarity for an ioniq5 but they are hard to find around here at msrp and now we have a large pending pool repair bill.

The rear end definitely isn't amazing but I honestly don't care. The rest of the vehicle looks good enough for me. At least I have 4 months to cancel if I change my mind.

Can someone make sure my math is correct on this. From June - October, my electric company charges $0.092/kWh. The EV6 has an 11kwh on board charger and the battery back is 77kwh. Let's say it take 7 hours to charge from 0-100%, that should cost me roughly $7.08 for a full charge on a level 2 home charger. Is my math correct on this?

Also, just saw a Rivian in green and oh my, it looked sexy.

For reference, "off peak hours" for me is $.0515 and the Leaf has only added about $15 per month, at the highest point, to our bill compared to the calendar year prior to ownership.

That was trickle charging everyday, I've since changed jobs that only requires a charge every other day.

I've got the internal clock on the car set to kill the charger during "peak hours" ($.4315) nonocat.gif

Oh to have your electric rates. We're at 20 cents here and what I've seen, because natural gas has gone up, electric rates will likely go up. They have to get government ok before they can do squat.

The 3 EV6's on the lot where I looked all had $5k ADMU. All were AWD, so higher power and higher price. All 3 were around $55k MSRP, then the $5k added.

I've started looking at something lower power, lower price, smaller size. The Model 3 would potentially be a match but I can't get past that stupid iPad in the middle of the dash and nothing in front of me plus the "lisp" front end. I've found a bunch of good front bumper cover replacements that have traditional grills and vents that installed would likely be about a grand. But there's the iPad. So the MINI electric looks like it might be a good fit. But when will it be available? 2 years from now? I guess for the moment anys, I'll stick with the Crosstrek.

Have you tried looking for EV6 on carguru and seeing if any of them are listed at MSRP? That’s what I did and all the Kia dealers around me were listing them at msrp. Now, if when my order gets in they try and pull some bait and switch by tacking on ADM, well, they can get ****ed. But from what I’ve seen, the dealers around me are not doing that.

ADM on a customer order is such bull****, but I wouldn't put it past a KIA dealer

I talked to both of my local Ford dealers, when I was considering putting down $100 to get in line for a Lightning, neither would give a straight answer when I brought up "ADM ****ery" at delivery.

I so wanted to ask for a blank piece of paper and ask "if I can get you to sign here that there will be no ADM, do we have a deal?"
