How to time flies. Seems like only yesterday the Porsche loyalists where up in arms about a Porsche SUV. Good thing they did.

THAT is not a car for fat butts like mine. HATED every second I sat in the Taycan. Definitely a skinny persons car.
I would imagine taller folks having complaints as well.... |

Not sure how to link the photos from their gallery, but gawd dayum.
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...pecs-revealed/ The green one... probably $200k but it at least looks good enough to help justify. And the bike rack on the white one, not sure if awesome or absurd. |

My primary issues with electric cars are cost and curb weight; both need to come down, the latter significantly so. I already don't like driving a 3,600lb car, I can't imagine how much I'll hate a 4,600lb car, but know I will. Secondary issue being that there aren't many offerings on the market right now, and there aren't any that interest me.
Any before anyone comes in with that "cars have gotten good at handling their weight" you're right, they have, but they still feel heavy and numb. |

I hope that once they get past this initial phase, manufactures will start tapering back. I'd be happy with a 150 mile sporty EV that weighs a lot less. |

Taycan is a good looking car (and can be fast), this new model looks great too.
The author should change his perspective to: if you're into luxo-barge power from a dig; if you want an vehicle with the driving characteristics of an economy car but doesn't need gas; you like high tech gadgets; or you want to be apart of the green initiative, unlike those faux greenies (and/or peasants) in their hybrids, then electric is a great option. |

I love it. And if building cars like this, and SUV's allows Porsche to continue making the GT cars I'm all for it.

I think it looks good, not 200k-350k good, but I don't have that kind of disposable income; I too like the green.
Related/unrelated, I saw a Buick tour-x in the wild today, towing a trailer no less. I still like the way it looks (minus the plastic cladding at the wheel arches), if only it had mechanical pieces more in line with my interests. |

So I ended up selling my 911 Turbo (got some good money back from it) and put down a deposit to build a new Cross Turismo 4S with anticipated build this summer and delivery later in the fall:
Some screen grabs how my config is supposed to look, we'll see how it matches reality |

The rear 3/4 view of that is perhaps the most attractive of any car currently on the market. It looks perfect.

Nice call, Ed.
Came out of the store today to find your new car parked next to our Leaf. Looks mean as hell. I’d go for that green, but if not available? You nailed it. |

So I configured my desired build on the website configurator and had my build code in hand. I shopped around a few different dealerships in my area (SoCal) to see if I could do anything better than MSRP or get some kickback incentives for giving them addl business. Basically every dealership told me the same thing: allocations of the Taycan CT were going to be very scarce and each dealership would only be given one build allocation of each trim level of the Cross Turismo, so basically 4 builds max per dealership, at least at this time. They all pretty much gave the same reason, the sales numbers of the Panamera Sport Turismo were poor overall in the US compared to the sedan so Porsche HQ was reluctant to allocate too many units of the CT to the US market and not see them move, especially at the high prices they start at. So when I submitted my build config I basically had to get the approval from the sales GM of every dealership that my config wasn't too wacky or 'out there' so in case I flaked on my purchase, it was still appealing enough to sell to another customer. That probably includes picking weirder less mainstream colors or loading it up with too many frivilous options and jacking up the price to an unappealing degree. Luckily my tastes don't swing that way and I did a reasonable and desirable config with a conservative color and only optioned what I considered important, Premium Package with upgraded 18 way power seats, heated/cooled, adaptive cruise control on top of the standard cruise, the Performance package which includes the basic sport chrono package, PTV, rear axle steer, PDCC, etc, and a few other cosmetic flourishes. All the Cross Turismos comes standard with AWD and height adjustable air suspension standard, even the base model, which was a draw for me, and the full glass panoramic roof for the US market. here's my build code for anyone who wants to peruse https://www.porsche.com/microsite/po...px?c=/PMMMDYJ1 Last edited by edkwon; 03-15-2021 at 09:35 AM. |
