On my second CVT now, I’ll never buy another Subaru CVT. I mentioned it before, but it’s funny that Subaru spent all the time and money developing a CVT, only to take what makes a CVT great IMO, and make it perform like a normal transmission.

You can't see the CVT. For the lifestyle poseurs it's fine.

For spy shots of a hatchback there would have to actually be a hatchback version which there is not. The WRX sedan shown above is shaping up to look pretty bland for sure. I'm not sure how a company can stretch a design 7 years on a model as with the current cars and make the replacement look nearly the same.

If there's one thing I know about Subaru though, it's that despite how little any one piece of this car will have changed compared to the VA, the sum of the changes will drive WRX people nuts and they'll buy the hell out of them anyhow. |

The new WRX might be looking bland but maybe it will be a bit more cohesive design than the VA. |

The camo'd spy shots seem to show the rear fenders are more pronounced, but front fenders are less pronounced than the VA, so I don't think the new WRX is going to look "better" than the VA.

To an average car buyer, the new WRX will probably be indistinguishable from the old one despite every single exterior feature being at least slightly changed.
The wheel well cladding is a huge question mark for me, I struggle to imagine that being a plus. The flares on the S209 are probably comparable and look gross and cheap to me. WRX losing the big fake vent behind the front wheel is a bummer also. All of this is to say I think they wanted to tone down the WRX a little and/or plan to make the STI more distinguished from it as I expect it to look borderline Civic Type R ridiculous. |

Looks very similar to previous gen. Hope they made some changes "underneath the skin" as to evolve the model forward ala 911 style; Evolution not revolution...

The wheel arches are wheel arch (cladding?) Is a wild card. Toning down the WRX is reminiscent of the 2008 then 2009-2010 WRX before they went all widebody. |

The upside of the hexagonal cladding is that if it is removable cladding, it wont be long before some body kit company makes a rounded arch kit to replace it..in theory

Every single "new" model starting with Impreza 2012 looks pretty much the same as the previous models.
