There is probably a happy medium in terms of screen/button. When I look at Acura and others, there are so many buttons. Or the new Corvette with the button bridge. We don't need a button for every function, as most are only used sparingly. I do like the Model 3/Y interior a lot. The new S/X is way better than before. Less is more, but of course functionality must be considered. |

Ideally it's what they should want though, right? Spartan interiors, quicker manufacturing, less environmental impact, less points of failure.
What would the comparison be of a car with an ICE and full EV for MSRP and cost of ownership? I'd assume the same interior but EV would make the EV more expensive, and negate cost savings, correct? |

Weight savings are also a key feature of less **** inside the cabin, considering weight is the number one downside to EV. But I don't think BMW is going as far as Tesla is in that department. So perhaps BMW is combining elements of both to get more people into their EVs.
i8 The new iX is a crossover which explains the layout. It's like the i3. The i4 just launched. No interior shots yet. |

Somehow I missed this
The Bargersville IL police department bought a 2019 Dodge Charger SV Police car and a Model 3 Standard range plus. Here was the break down Charger - $36,500 Model 3 SR+ - $41,00 1 year operating costs Charger - $7,580 M3SR - $825 12 month savings - $6,755 So the Price difference was negated the first year, and they expect over $20K in total savings by vehicle EOL. I am all for tax funded municipals saving money where it makes sense. https://electrek.co/2020/10/05/tesla...on-police-car/ |

no kitschy interior to appeal to the apple lovers out there. Just a car that wants to be driven. |

They are nice interiors, a little busy, but much better than most. I had hopes for the Q4 e-tron, but the lack of OPD for VAG products is

Let's look at the Audi Etron Q4 interior... what do we see? Buttons. And another interior that would be equally at home in an ICE vehicle. Coming in at a price point that will compete with the Model 3. Not saying this is my favorite interior, but it actually looks like a car, and not some high-tech driverless shuttle that the tesla interior suggests. |

Mo buttons mo betta. Fo sho goin' wit mo buttons fo mo dollar bills.
I know the appeal of newer EVs outside of Tesla has been nicer interiors, plus fit and finish. The final nail is mileage. |

I'm just waiting for a manufacturer to put out an EV that ticks some more boxes. Tesla could be fine if they could make a model that wasn't designed around autonomous driving, but that seems to be their schtick, so probably off the list.

The carbon-sleeved rotors sounds like a gimmick.. but they explained it's necessary to prevent the copper windings from expanding outward at crazy high RPM (ie: 200mph).

I think it also helped with weight. I recall Elon saying that you can pick up the motor with your hands.

The weight benefit would be from not sleeving the rotors at all (the traditional way).
