slotting in between the chr and the rav-4/venza?
a lot of choice in the small cuv market from Toyota. How about dropping that gr drivetrain into the chr instead of adding more body configurations... |

[ ] Crosstrek
[X] Crossrekt Unfortunately no amount of competition will get Subaru to fix the problem with the Crosstrek: CVT. |

The Corolla Cross is FWD and is related to the C-HR; same wheelbase, larger body. Kinda redundant, except for styling.

FWD or AWD for all three trims. LED lighting for all trims too. Already looking more appealing than the base Crosstrek.

It definitely looks functionally better than the C-HR. AWD optional and more power seems like a better buy too.

This will eat into Crosstrek sales for sure as people love the RAV4 so a smaller version should sell pretty well.

hard pass for me; not enough cargo capacity, not enough power, CVT only; just not enough to persuade me from either a hatchback or large CUV (not that I'm n the market for either). It does land squarely in the crosstrek market, which is where they wanted to land, and I'm sure it will be better than the crosstrek is across the board (fuel economy, reliability, tuning, interior materials, NVH, etc.)

Toyota just registered the Crown name in the US, so I wonder if they will bring the Crown Kluger V here. I know it's basically the same as the Highlander, but at least it comes without the third row.

Should sell well. Another CUV that looks exactly like all the other CUVs in this segment.
Also, clearly how the Corolla is going to transition from car to CUV. |

If you think toyota's overlap is bad, go look at mitsubishi's webstie. I went to get a free AYC pump replacement (thanks, Minnesota winters...) and perused their showroom while waiting. It was like 5 mildly different copies of the exact same size/height/specs car and then their ugly ass tiny electric thing.

The article quoted in the OP is outdated as it pertains to the US market. It was revealed a few days ago that the US models would make 169 HP and 150 lb/ft. Obviously that's still not enough to excite any enthusiasts, but it's a significant bump over the 140 HP and 129 lb/ft originally mentioned.

Outlander Outlander Sport Outlander PHEV Eclipse Cross Then just the Mirage and Mirage G4. Mirage should be illegal to sell. It's such an awful car for America. I've personally known someone who was gifted a Mirage and they couldn't expound enough on how big of a death trap it is. |

So what's the difference between this and the RAV4 that Toyota said "we need to fill a spot in the market?"

Same thing between Crosstrek vs Forester or HR-V vs CR-V. All their original compact CUV's have grown opening up opportunity for real compact CUV again. This is most likely a better vehicle than the CH-R.

Pricepoint, I can get behind. It's $4k cheaper to start. So, using the Subaru analogy, it's like they started with the 2.5L Crosstrek, and THEN made the Impreza, with cheaper stuff. I.e. RAV4 2.5L (two transmissions AT/CVT) -> Corolla Cross 2.0L (one transmission CVT) I think that just answered it. |

Using the same Subaru analogy, they started with the Corolla 2.0L (Impreza 2.0L) and made a Corolla Cross 2.0L (Crosstrek 2.0L). If you want a 2.5L, you step up to the pricier RAV-4 (Forester). The only difference is that Toyota is not offering the 2.5L in the Corolla Cross as is optional engine as in the Crosstrek. But they may not need to as the Toyota 2.0L already makes 169 hp which is a good jump over 152 hp. And they will be offering a more powerful Hybrid. |

Y'all have been reading all the reports wrong. The GR Corolla is actually going to be the GR Corolla Cross for the American market, complete with GR stitching on the seats, a GR sticker on the hatch, a GR button on the center console that sets the CVT into sport mode, and a badge on the steering wheel, all for an extra $3,000. Canada will get a GR Corolla with heated everything, special purple color, anti-lag, and launch control.
