I had a cv boot tear. So I figured it was time to replace all the front boots. I'm still waiting for them to show up. None of the parts stores at the correct size for an early model 04 sti.
I figured I would get the brakes done, and now I have to rethread pretty much all the calipers, so that will be fun. Brake pads/rotors installed. I went with r1 concepts. Torn CV boot, what a mess! Cleaned up after the cv boot explosion. In this video I installed a hybrid MAF setup, and new AEM fuel pump. Check it out!

Well I got the brake calipers rethreaded with helicoils. I had to do this to 5 of the 8 holes. The owner before trashed them all and hardly tightened the bolts. Good thing I decided to do the brakes! I should probably pull them all apart and rebuild them, and powder coat them all as well.

I suggest a thin layer of anti-seize on the surface of the hub behind the rotors to make removal a little easier later. Helps a lot in Washington if you run up the mountains a lot in the winter. Oh, and perhaps clean the old rust off with a "hub buddy"

Looking good. The maintenance projects can be a pain but rewarding once complete.
