Default possible MY23 or MY24 impreza

https://s.kakaku.com/prdnews/cd=kuru...010/id=104355/ It doesn't look all that bad for an impreza, but we still have a bit of a wait. what will the hatchback version look like though, will we be lucky enough to get the 1.5 turbo on the base trim with a manual, or will they follow what honda did with their civic

Interesting...

It shares quite a few lines with the rumored hot hatch.

So Toyota is designing a Corolla-faced Impreza?

Right, because Subaru has been doing it since the GC generation. Although the base GC looked more like the Camry.

I see a little bit of Mazda in the front end. It's not offensive or anything but one has to wonder if this is the last generation of Impreza given sales have tanked this generation as buyers flock to the Crosstrek.

Unless they have waited just long enough to stimulate a new wave of Impreza drivers ... by dropping the 2.5 in it.

Keep up. I already own it... lifted, which is why I posted that. It transforms the driving experience relative to the 2.0.

The thing is, an Impreza with the 2.5 would work so well that it might cut into the sales of their other models.

Let me amplify that.

My '19 hatch Impreza's handling, relative to my WRXs', was compromised only by the tires... and that anemic engine when exiting. But even with the lower power, it's ability to navigate complex corners and hold my line at a higher speed than I often expected made it fun to drive in the twistys... humiliating all other I met.

Give it the FB25D, better wheels, tires and shocks, a "Sport" trim level and it would give any stock WRX a run for its money as a fun car. Without the premium fuel and turbo requirements.

The hatch version could become like the NA fun cars of yesteryear. Going on what I have now in a Crosstrek, the lower and lighter 5-door Impreza would be a killer seller.

But then, what do I know.

The silver one looks like some Hyundai or Kia. Looks horrible.

the silver one is overstyled in a painful way

The blue one looks like an old Focus rally car and not in a good way. More like the B roll of a SEMA show...

The 2.0 needs to die. Going from the 2.5 in my Legacy to the 2.0 in the '18 Crosstrek I'm driving is dreadful.

Still don't see how you do it. I'd dump that thing in a nanosecond for the 2.5L. If not I'd find a cliff, open the door, wait until the last minute and jump out, letting the car go all Dukes of Hazzard to its' death.

IMO, nothing fundamentally wrong with either FB20 and FB25 on their own.
But, I'd toss both in a heartbeat and go for CB18 instead because it uses a much better engine geometry from the start.

My Legacy was coming close to CVT warranty expiration so I sold it to Carvana for a good price. I'm just borrowing the Crosstrek from my parents for the time being
