You need to offload the Raptor right now as it is a seller's market. You just need a pick up replacement for now (cough Honda!) until the cybertruck comes out. The Cybertruck is exactly what you'll need to check every box. You'll have to debate dual vs tri motor and the expense. It'll be a big marketing bonanza "Made in Texas" and the huckster will probably have a "Texas edition".

Work commute was ~45 miles round trip monday through Friday driving 80mph, mostly interstate. I was spending $150-$200 a month in gas on the Challenger. With the Tesla I could get charging at work often enough that I would go several months at a time without paying for juice. That's with a long range AWD Model 3 - realistically I could go to work and back about 3 or maybe 4 times keeping the battery between 80-20%, with winter being less. I have a 120V outlet at my rental house garage; 240V isn't an option as it would require major wiring upgrades that I'm not going to pay for.

This past Saturday I did a day trip to about 3 hours away, stopping twice at a supercharger. I got home with 17% juice on Saturday evening, and it took about 36 hours to charge back up to 80%. I had nowhere to go though, and two ICE cars I could drive if I wanted to. I could have gone around town the next morning no problem from an overnight charge on 120V.

My lying-to-myself, this-isn't-so-bad logic was this: 6 year loan at 3.9% (at the time, interest rates higher in May 2019), $720 a month. Subtract $200 a month from the foregone gas spending, BOOM, $520 a month, same payment as the average new car in 2019! Of course I understand the real math quite well. It was never about breaking even; I don't have any credit card debt or anything like that. I blow money on cars like many other people here. This hasn't been a financial hardship for me at all though, I am not stretched by any means. Now I have the Tesla and no Challenger. I sold the Rx-7 and replaced it with a $5000 2002 Miata.

Let's face it though, these kinds of car buying decisions aren't based on rational financial decision making. Otherwise we'd all be driving used Camry's and used RAV4's.
Truer words have never been spoken.

Looks in driveway and finds a highlander and an outback... Rational financial decisions won in my house, at least for the time being. Although the motorcycle in the garage is my saving grace.

In a few years though, we're planning on ditching the outback for a city-going EV. 200 mile range. 4 doors. My fingers are crossed that there are better options out there than Tesla when the time comes... Hoping for something fun - crosses fingers for id.3R.

I do not want a cyber truck. Damn thing looks like a door stop and the interior will be typical Tesla interior. You’ll be proud to know I went and test drove a Ridgeline and... I’m not a fan. It drives really well and does handle well. I just feel cramped and not a fan of the seats. I’ve become too accustomed to the luxo barge interior lol

Cramped? I'm 6'2" and it's damn roomy in there but I'm not hooked on Lazy-Boy seats in the full size trucks. I understand that if you are used to those. One of my friends has a current model full size GM pickup with all the trimmings. Yeah, I get that part of it. For me, I just couldn't trade the handling and torque vectoring AWD system of the Honda for a BOF land yacht. Each to their own. My truck won't tow over 5k pounds with authority like a full size will either but it sure handles way better when pushed into a turn or high rate of speed in general. It tows my bikes and my pwc, and a will a future jet boat, just fine. The great thing with trucks is you have no shortage of models out there to choose from. From that perspective it's a buyer's market. Dump the Raptor and get a 3.5 EB! I'm sure you can flog a stealer on that switch. The 3.5 is pretty damn quick, I drove it and the 2.7 just prior to buying the Honduh.

^^ My buddy just picked up a 4dr F350 Lariat with the new 7.3L engine. Holey crap , talk about a land yacht! You nearly need a stepladder just to get in the seat. Don't even get me started on what it cost.

Pre, what kind of jet boat? I have been bombing around in my Sea-Doo for tubing and wakeboarding purposes with my son. but have been getting the itch to step up again to a boat. The Axopar's have caught my eye but the boat market has taken off this year and there's little stock.

I find it hard to believe the Ridgeline handles well just looking at it. The tires look undersized.

Its just narrow. Don't get me wrong, I fit just fine. I just prefer the width of the F150 super crew cab and center console layout. Most of my driving is in straight lines or wide open turns up the mountain or out to the desert so i've never really had an issue with handling. I usually keep my cab pretty loaded with medical supplies and one of the things that killed the honda for me was how much more room and ease I have with the F150 cab. The honda did handle damn well though, I will admit. I also refuse to go back to seats that don't have AC lol.

The F150 is just more convenient in terms of size for me. Needed, somewhat. Want, yes.

I'm looking at trading the raptor in on a low mileage 2017 Platinum. It has the 3.5lt ecoboost which honestly, I prefer the 2.7lt.

I will likely end up in a F150 EV whenever those come out. The new center console work station is money and would make my life a hell of a lot easier as i'm often pulling over to create quotes or look up a customers order history for them.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it hit $75k depending on how he optioned it and if diesel. Those F350 and F250 sell so well that usually there isn’t much factory discounts on them.

Yeah, I didn’t ask him what he spent. I looked them up later but I figure it was at least 66k. He usually is a guy who waits to get a deal but his last truck was 18 years old and falling apart around him so he couldn’t wait . Combine that with the fact that he was wanting to get out of diesel and get that new 7.3 l and I’m not sure how much off he got. I suspect that the Covid helped him a bit, he did say that the Ford dealers were hounding him surprisingly to make a sale.

Ah, missed that part. Yeah, probably just at or slightly under the $70k price mark.

Ford's gas engines seem kinda weak suace. GMC has the 6.2l making just less than 10hp and 10tq. I heard the 7.3l engine and it sounds kinda odd.

GM HD Trucks have a 6.6L gas engine now, making 29 fewer ponies.

I should probably admit that the 7.3l in the Ford is severely under tuned for longevity of the engine with heavy use / towing. I think a basic 93 octane gets 80hp gain, 87 octane is 50.

Picking up our Model Y Long Range AWD this afternoon.

Model 3 is being sold to Carvana.

I would buy another Model 3 in the future!

I can’t speak for him but Carvana was laughably low for my ex-3 a few weeks ago. Something like $24k offer! Recall that I sold it ultimately for $44.9k private party.

Did you shop around on what you could sell it for? From my experience, Carvana is notoriously cheap.

Now is the time to sell a car. It's a total sellers market. The used dealers whether local or national, are paying a few k more than the car's value just to have product to sell in inventory.

Yep, Carvana offered me $6k less than I paid for my 2018 F150 with 42K miles.
