Default Stromung + MadDad = one BAD A#$ Downpipe

Edit 1/14/04
Add a MadDad Ceramic Coated Intermediate pipe with the combo below for an addtional $170 for a serious "SuperStealth" turboback system for just $519. All pieces are in stock.

Our Stromung orders are just staring to trickle in. Stromung is the lastest brand being carried at Daddy's. We're starting with their new twin dump downpipe and we're estatic to find that it uses a 3" flange almost idential to the 3" flange we use on our MadDad(TM) 3rd Cat Eliminator pipe. Combine these two products and you've got one serious performing downpipe. 3" inches until you get to the catback section where it all smoothly tapers back down to 2.5". This is a great way to get the high power and low-end torque without compromise. You've got 3" where you need(off the turbo) and 2.5" where you need it(further downstream). To celebrate Stromungs arrival and the perfect match of these two products I do believe we need a special. Till the end of January.

Stromung DP + MadDad(TM) 3rd Cat Eliminator = $348 + freight($10-20 depending on location). That's a $40 savings.

Stromung DP stand alone $189
MadDad 3rd Cat Eliminator stand alone $199

If your not familiar with the MadDad(TM) 3rd Cat Eliminator please see the Annoucement forum for previous posted full details. Here's some pics of the two friends together.

Some may note we haven't posted any other new speicals this month. We've been spending time lining up new products lines(like Stromung) and you'll see more specials and product introductions as the month progesses. Good things are coming.

Side by Side view of the 3" flange used. About as identical as you'll ever see.

Hi Rich,

Is it safe to assume that the "almost identical" nature of the Stromung dp & your Mad Daddy 3rd cat eliminator flanges result in a "guarantee" of no leaks?

Also, is there a catted version of the Stromung dp that is compatible w/your MD 3rd cat eliminator, and if so (HOPEFULLY) what is the package price on the two units?

Finally, any dyno #'s/HP gains for the parts yet (piece meal & complete system)?

Anxiously awaiting,

CL

AK_2002_WRX - It will make things a notch louder due to the 3rd cat being removed. It will mate and work just fine with a Bosal DP. We've sold that combo and it works just fine. I'll shoot you a PM on shipping via USPS.

clsmooth71 - Actually the flanges are 100% identical. You'll have no leaks, plus our MadDad products have a 14 money back gaurantee(excluding freight), no questions asked. Our MadDad 3CE will work any any DP that replaces just the DP, such as this Stromung, ScoobySports, Bosal's, ect. as well as the factory DP(which is what I'm running with at the moment. We have a MadDad twin dump downpipe with a higher flowing cat that should be at our door any day now. See the Announcement forum for full details on that one. We'll announce some combo deals once we receive product for resale.

It's just my luck that there's a combo like this available two days after I ordered an AccessPort. Now I won't have the money for this till next month when the special is over. Damn you Daddys! DAMN YOU!

Btw, thanks for the 411, Rich. I thought I recalled you previously mentioning your own twin dump, CATTED dp would be available soon. I'll go back to waiting anxiously by my computer!

Rich, in the Announcement forum you mentioned that you were going to put a high-temp coating on the dp. Is this still the plan?

I hadn't heard that you were making a downpipe with a cat. I figured it would be catless. That's great news. The third cat eliminator will pass our visual inspection, and hopefully the high-flow cat in the downpipe will help it pass the emissions tests. I think I'd rather go this route than a stealthback.

I have a half-dozen of these Stromung DPs that went in last week for ceramic coatings. I hope to have them before the week is out but if not, next week for sure. It's going to add approx. $49. This is the "in stock" forum so I didn't want to mention it, but hey, you brought it up . Our downpipe with cat will be coated as well. Wasn't sure which one you were referring too.

INTEGRAtoWRX - Yup. That's in the mail as well as far as I'm told. I'll post pics in the Announcement forum when I receive it.

This Stromung and the MadDad(TM) 3CE end up being a nice combo though. If you need to you can always put your factory cat back in the 3rd cat section in all of 20 minutes. Much easier than removing a downpipe that replaces both sections.

I did a Delta Dash Road Dyno's(pre-install/post-install) on our MadDad(TM) 3CE and a ScoobySport single tip axleback(with factory center/rear) as making 10hp and 15lbs of torque in 2nd gear. Probably not the combo you wanted to know about but I was lazy when I had the car on my mechanics lift and put both pieces on. The dynos were on the same stretch of road on the same day within hours of each other. In each case the car was run around the block a couple of times to warm it up, and then then run.

For offroad use only of course. Plus the shroud helps to protect the 02 sensor

Rich, is it really that easy to swap the stock third cat back in? I thought I rememberd someone posting in the past that you have to take the whole catback off to do so. I'm currently stuck on the fence whether I should go catless or not. If it's going to be a pain to swap a cat, back on after 2 years of road grime and rust, is it really worth it? Hmmmm.....decisions decisions

I've had it on and off twice in the last month and I didn't remove the intermediate pipe(center/rear) either time. No issue.

And just to reconfirm, this is a catless pipe for Race/off-road use only.

Agreed, swapping the oem 3rd cat in & out does NOT require removing the whole catback. The only tricky thing is that PITA stud on the front flange of the oem piece.

That's good to hear. I'll probably just go catless then. Offroad only though of course

Here's a dyno plot of the the stock exhaust vs. MadDad 3CE and a ScoobySport axleback(factory intermediate pipe). The gains were 15HP and 12lb torque(was going from memory in my previous post). This was in 2nd gear. Gains might be a bit higher in 3rd or 4th. This is a Delta Dash road dyno. It was done on the same before and after install with just me in the car on a full tank of gas. In each case the car was warmed up by driving around the block(a few miles) a couple of times so conditions were just about identical, right down to the stretch of road that was used. Customers are reporting they can feel and hear(the turbo) the difference in their car.Sorry I don't have a dyno of just the MadDad 3CE. I was lazy and didn't want to put the car back on the lift. I also felt this would be closer to what most people have since most people that are buying this part already have a performance axleback or catback system. Car is still running the factory uppipe and downpipe in case anyone is interested in that info. Only other mod is one of our 4" carbon fiber hood scoops. Also keep in mind the stair stepping in the plots is due to the way road dynos work in Delta Dash. It has nothing to due with the car or the products installed.

bump for the "SuperStealth" turboback offer

Add a MadDad Ceramic Coated Intermediate pipe with the combo above for an addtional $170 for a serious "SuperStealth" turboback system for just $519. All pieces are in stock. You get a great 3" DP, a 3" 3rd cat eliminator(the only one with an OEM cat look), and the only ceramic coated intermediate pipe. Plus you get a true hybrid system that stays 3" until the intermediate pipe, where it smoothly tapers back down to 2.5". Any bolt-on exhaust will fit our ceramic coated intermediate pipe. Prodrive, Stromung, ScoobySport, stock, and others. This deal is good til the end of the month.

Yes the downpipe will bolt right up to your stock third cat. Just like the Bosal and ScoobySport etc. Also, if you went with the Stromung dp and Daddy's 3rd cat eliminator, it would bolt up to your stock mid-pipe (cat-back pipe).

Judging from the picture, it looks like the DP doesnt have a flange separating exhaust and wastegate flow. Is there one? Im confused.
