Default 2007 WRX - Replace Ignition Switch

Have a few questions regarding replacing my ignition switch on my 2007 WRX...

First one - Does anyone know of a write-up? Ive replaced an ignition switch on non-subaru vehicles before, remove the top portion of the steering column covers, then the bottom, follow the cable to the harness, unclip, unscrew and then take ignition switch out... reinstall is reverse... Is it the same on Subarus? Im at work and supposed to be available when needed... so I cant make the car go down for more than a Sunday afternoon type of thing.

Second one - My search here has lead to multiple threads where people say "the ignition switch is rarely at fault for electrical problems, starting problems etc" but I believe mine is due to the problem:

The problem - About 2 months ago, it was about 31 degrees out and I started my car... my stereo didnt boot up like usual, so I started messing with the buttons, to no avail... Shut car off, turn it back on, still nothing... Hmm... 45 seconds later it turns on and theres no problem for a week or so. Next cold morning, same thing happen but this time I noticed (because I couldnt see!) my wipers didnt work... After some research I had the battery tested, it had a bad cell... so I replaced it with a new Odyssey AGM battery... No problem for about a month... Then a cold morning it happened again, for about 10 seconds, and when I turned my headlights on is when I saw the radio light up. So now Im thinking it cant be the battery again... Fast forward... Today; started the car, no wipers, no radio and no power mirrors (noticed that this morning)... Didnt work through warm up (5-6 minutes) and the whole drive to work roughly 20 minutes... but when I got to work, I grabbed my keys to make sure I had the door key for work and the radio turned on... Thinking I didnt have the key "turned" all the way, I jiggled it and noticed I had some play front-back on the switch...

Turns out through more research... the radio, the mirrors and wipers all have different fuses, but their power source is the ignition switch... so a loose connection/corroded connection could cause the intermittent failure... Replace ignition switch... Right?

I was just looking at doing some upgrades... now I get to figure this out first

Have fun with the breakaway bolts. I hope you have a small cold chisel.
