2003 WRX Reliability Concerns
Hi all, I’m currently in the market for my first car and stumbled upon a 2003 WRX. Before I go any further with the dealership I wanted to know if there were any big reliability concerns other than the head gasket. Thanks in advance!

Depends on the mileage and if it was modded or not.

88,000 miles and it does not appear to be modded. CARFAX also shows a clean service history.

Restrictor pill, timing, valve cover gaskets, oil pickup, boost leak. Check or ask about these.

a small thing few talk about is make sure the drive window is bolted down nice and snug. I've had two bugeyes have the driver's window fall into the door a month or so after getting ti home.

Also as an old guy, a bit of advice, get a well taken care of grandma car like an outback sport or RS make for a first cars. save the power for a few more years of owning, also the grandma cars are always in low milage good shape cheaper to insure and don't need 91 oct at the pump

A 15 year old turbo car, no clue who owned it in the past.
Low miles for age, did it get used very little a year, or did it sit a number of years? If it sat, was it recent or a long time ago? Sitting can create it's own issues. Also, if it sat, why? No idea on your age, but if "youngish", turbo car is more expensive to insure. |

Thank you everyone for your responses, however after hearing back from the insurance agent this morning I decided that a WRX would not be in my best interest. It just so happens I ended up finding a 2003 M**subi**i Galant LS with only 25,000 miles on it near by so I think I'm going to go with that. Moderators please close this thread.
