Default 2018 Impreza MPG

I have a new 2018 Impreza 5MT with 200 miles on it. I am currently only getting 20 MPG Avg. The dealer told me that there is no "Break In Period" on this car. I have not been nailing it.

What should I expect?

Wow really there is a break in with every car. It even says it in the manual. It will take about two tanks to get your true avg mpg. I have the 17 Impreza Sport with 5speed and avg about 24 combined and get upwards of 32 highway.

This is a DIT version of the FB. I can't tell you first hand as we have an older 13 in a Crosstrek with a CVT. The mileage was lower when we first got it. Probably 2 oil changes and mileage got better. We easily get better than 30 average.

I don't know what the gearing difference is but I know guys with Crosstrek manuals get significantly less.

My 2013 Crosstrek with manual averages around 24-27 mpg. I'll get over 30 to a tank only if doing longer highway drives.

As said above, you have 200 miles on it. Maybe stop worrying so much so soon? 200 miles isn't even enough to get a baseline. If you're getting 20mpg, that's only 10 gallons, which means not even an entire full tank.

Chill out. Drive the car. Average it over the next say, 10 tanks. Report back.

My '17 WRX took 10K miles to truly loosen up and break in. Fuel use got better incrementally. Give it some time.

Not sure how the data is sampled or how the car was driven at the dealership but the MPG quickly jumped up to 25MPG. After a few long drives it is now around 27 MPG. I am still under 1K miles and am still using the original oil.

That's normal. If you switch up the middle display you can select the gas screen. It shows the miles to empty, miles driven from last fuel up, has the mpg bar that goes from yellow to green to show how efficient your driving is, and your current avg mpg.
Right after your fuel up press the trip button to reset one of your odometer trip readings. This will reset the avg mpg for the new trip. At first it will be blank. Then you will get a reading that's usually on the high side.
As you drive that reading will slowly go down to your actual avg mpg for that trip. As of right now I average about 25mpg of mixed driving.
Remember Manual transmission Impreza will have slightly lower mpg. The 5 speed is rated 25mpg combined. So I am right in that zone. I get over 30mpg when doing mostly highway.
