Clifford Matrix 2.5X alarm, need advice
Hi, I recently got an authorized dealer to install a Matrix 2.5X paging alarm. The alarm comes with a dual-stage shock sensor...now I was wondering, how sensitive is this shock sensor suppose to be and is it suppose to apply to the whole vehicle or just parts of the vehicle?
b/c right now it only sets it off when i knock the front driver door around the lock area...if i hit it with equal strength elsewhere around the vehicle nothing happens... is this a problem due to the install? also, there is a push-button valet button installed in the car which allows you to start the car and disarm the alarm if your remote fails.... is the end user suppose to program the number of pulses themselves or was the dealer suppose to do it...because the instruction manual doesn't seem to tell me how to set the number of pulses required to disarm the alarm Finally, a warranty registration comes with the purchase of the alarm...is it typical for a dealer to keep this warrenty? in the instruction manual it says to make sure you receive the warranty registration from your dealer but when i called the place that installed my alarm they said don't worry about it and they are the ones that cover the parts and what not... is this usual practice? Oh and for those of you who have the same alarm...I dont' suppose you guys know what the "failsafe starter kill circuitry" is...is it just instructions on how to set it up or are there wires and stuff provided for you should you choose to install it... or does that refer to the immobilizer? sorry for the newb questions thx in advance

Well shock sensors usually need a considerable amount of force to trigger them. If I walked around my car and banged on it with my hand it would not set it off. The blow has to shake the part of the car the sensor is sitting on.
But the sensitivity is adjustable. Ask the installer for a copy of the warranty , that's well within your rights. However the bill of sale should cover you in regard to the installer. The installer should have told you how many pushes it takes on the valet switch to invoke it. In fact they should have gone over the entire install with you. Usually it's two but it can be set a number of ways. However it should not be a big deal to figure it out. The alarm has an onboard starter kill which means wires are present to allow for it without the use of relays. |
