Install...

If the car has an air pump it will need to be removed for the install. Remove it from the bracket where it mounts to the engine and disconnect the air tubes that go rearward. Also the electrical plug needs to be disconnected. After the reservoir is installed the air pump is dropped down into place. The air tubes need to be pushed rearward for it to drop down (then slid onto the ports), but they are pretty flexible. If there is no air pump on the car, ignore the above.

A bolt is supplied that threads into one of the threaded holes on the bottom. For GD fitment it goes into the rear threaded hole, for GR fitment the front threaded hole. This bolt head fits into the hole the OEM tank's plastic peg fit into.

Pic 1 shows the grommet being removed from the OEM washer tank. This will need to be installed into the bottom of the KBM washer.

Pic 2 shows the elbow assembly. One end has a long tube the other has a spacer. Insert the elbow side that has only the spacer into the OEM grommet that was installed into the bottom of the washer tank.

Pic 3 shows the "h" pump tube assembly fitted to the pumps that are removed from the OEM washer tank.

Pic 4 shows the pumps attached to the hanger and both tube assemblies connected.

Install tips: check the tube lengths and pump placement to assure they run in a downward direction from reservoir to pump. This will help any trapped bubbles escape and prime the pumps. If you test the pumps an no fluid comes out don't panic. Driving the car a short distance is enough to persuade any stubborn bubbles to make their way out.

The GD version may fit if your fuse box, battery and factory washer tank looks like this...

The version shown in post 51 will fit models back to 2002, and maybe other years as well

Back from the dead. The pics in here were dead or outdated. We've been using a new textured finish for some time now, and have are now etching our logo/text as well

We make a version for every model WRX & STi from 2002 to the current model year.

Strut mount version for 04-05 WRX & STi models:

OEM location version covers ALL WRX & STi models from 2002-current model year:

Have you guys ever fit one of these to a GC chassis? It doesn't have the stand-offs the GD has, curious if you've seen anyone fab up a little bracket to adapt it?

I'm still trying to find a good coolant overflow option for my RSTi after years of searching and I keep coming back to this...

Thanks!

Your timing couldn't be better. We recently send one to Bucky, who has been in the same boat as you. Pretty good work around for getting our 08+ setup to work on his GC...

Aah, I've already looked into that model, won't clear at all with an 04+sti motor and upgraded radiator. I was referring to the older model that bolts into where the factory windshield reservoir lives, the 02+ model.

Thanks,

Dave

Did you try fitting one?

I don't recall what year STi engine Bucky is using, but it is a US STi swap, and I believe he's using a thicker aftermarket radiator as well (I want to say Koyo-R).

The GD strut tower mount won't work, he tried that first. There were mounting and interference issues that would have required hacking up the unit and making a custom mounting solution. Was more work than it was worth. I honestly thought there would be no way the 08+ version would fit considering how short the front of a GC is, AND with the thicker rad. There's not much room between them. OEM motor mounts and it would likely touch during launch and aggressive gear changes.

All that being said, this is all coming via third party... I don't have the car in front of me, and have minimal expeience with GCs.

Yeah, my Mishimoto is a bit thicker than his koyo, esp with the factory fan shroud that I have on mine.

I can't even fit the stock overflow...been living with a tiny overflow that is designed for FMIC kits that's just a few oz too small for the amount of expansion in my system

I have a mishimoto overflow cylinder that is larger, but I don't have a great place to mount that either due to the smaller and more-cramped GC engine bay, but I guess I have to revisit that and maybe figure out how to mount it on the passenger side of the car where there's more room...

A battery relocation would also solve most RSTi engine bay space issues =)

Thanks,

This isn't a cheap option, but have you considered using a different radiator. I say this for a couple of reasons. The obvious one is that the overflow/wash tank problem would be solvable. The other is that those radiators don't perform that well, and REALLY don't on the GC chassis cars where ambient airflow out the back is further choked by the lack of space between fan shroud and engine.

Maybe if it dies, but my mishimoto has been going strong since 2012 with no issues and my temps are great. Hottest temp I saw all last summer was 207F, and that was really beating on it on a 95F day.

Verified, they will not

There might be a work-around with a bracket or maybe swapping to a different radiator shroud. With enough tenacity it can likely be done.
