Installed the oe roof racks on my base. The silver cross bar ones that screw into the roof. Perrin stubby fits under their clearance nicely. I haven't noticed wind noise or anything. Perhaps a slight bit more drag. I wish they would make a deflector like thule and yakima do. Otherwise I am Loving the look but mainly purchased for my move to Phoenix in a few days. The kit is very nice and came with a t30 torx screwdriver for installation which now resides with my jack and spare tire. The racks are very very sturdy and seem of good quality thus far although I have yet to test them further than grabbing them and shaking the whole car with them.
I Will let you guys know if there are a lot of subis out in arizona as some were wondering since it is pretty much summer everyday. I'm starting to see them everywhere here in pa though. A lot of old people seem to be buying the sedan. |

There are for sure wires in the harness have to check them.
on my 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited the wires from the connector inside the door to the mirrors the wires are NOT present, but from the other side of the connector into the harness there are EXTRA wires in there, I need to test each wire and see what is what. I know that the signal Lens wires are in there that is how I wired up mine.

The description you posted shows compatible with the Impreza/XV for the approach lights (no dimming), if you search the part number J201SSG000 it seems everywhere states it is just 2014 Forester.
Typically with the 10-slot connector you have 9-pins in the car side, 3 for adjust, 2 heat, 2 signal, 2 power folding. SOA could have used the otherwise unused folding wires for the approach light, but there would have to be wiring with the taped up connector inside the mirror for it. Did you see that inside there? |

I'll try check when I get my car. Wire an LED into every unused pin until I find one that turns on with the dome light.

Correct wires for ............
I will test the wiring for the folding mirror when I get the harness from Power6 and post pictures of the correct wires to use. Subaru has a bad habit of changing wire colors from driver side to passenger side. And the approach light wires should also be in there, but I guess I will confirm this when I take the door panels off.
I am wondering if I am going to get power on the harness side when I turn on or off the alarm from the FOB/Remotes for the approach lights while the driver's side door is open? Also, I should have power for the fold and unfold mirror option as well. If theses wires are present, we are gonna have some nicely equipped Imprezas! |

I have various service manuals including the '12 Impreza. The wiring pins have not changed the 10-slot or 8-slot connector which would have 7 or 9 wires on the car side and here are the pin locations and what they are with the typical wire colors used on the mirror side: Base: 1 - Signal (+) (white) 2- Folding(out) (brown) 3- Common (blue) 4- Signal (-) (green) 5- Folding (in) (grey) 6- Up/down (pink) 7- Right/Left (purple) 8- **Unused** Premium: 1 - Signal (+) (white) 2- Folding(out) (brown) 3- Common (blue) 4- Heat (black) 5- Signal (-) (green) 6- Folding (in) (grey) 7- Up/Down (pink) 8- Right/Left (purple) 9- **Unused** 10- Heat (black) |

The wiring table is very helpful I got my package today, when I get home I am going to take the door panels off and remove my mirrors, I am going to count the wires on the connector. And make a note on the wires and colors. The swap should be an easy one since I did not do a permanent wire up. See picture below

Great! Let me know if the length works I am holding off cutting and crimping the wires on my new harnesses here until we know the length is good.
The colors I posted will match the mirror side. The car side will probably be different colors, wouldn't be surprised if the colors match the earlier years, but so far the pin locations are always the same. Make sure there are 9 wires in each door side mirror plug, the 11-13 WRX/STI are "missing" the JDM folding wires on the passenger's side. |

Oooh, progress! Good to hear guys. My mirrors will be here next week!
Edit: while we're at it, do we HAVE to pop the mirror glass off to get the "scalp cap" off? That's what the service manual says, and I've yet to try. Just curious... Thanks! Last edited by MackDaddy; 04-29-2013 at 09:14 PM. |

With very little effort the covers come right off.
No, All you have to do is move the glass a little bit and you will see one of the tabs from the mirror cover, and pry on it a little bit with a screwdriver or any object that would fit behind the glass and it should pop right off.

Well I did the passenger side first to check for the 10 pin connector. YES they have 9 wires on the harness side. And it's the 10 pin connector alright! I have the Sport Limited, so you guys with the premium would have to check your passenger side as well. I have to say this is fun to do and I quite enjoy the satisfaction of modding my subie. This time around I snaked the wires through the inside of the sleeve and into the mirror cavity. I will post some pictures in a few.
The two white wires is what I originally used for my retrofit, but after seeing the OEM I decided to go in one more time, the second time around is so much easier & I learned how to take the antire mirror apart too, very easy indeed. The white wires I used originally are way to big, an overkill really, there is not that much current going through these wires at all. You are going to hold the 10pin connector from the mirror plug with the wires facing you,the press tab on top, pin#1 is on your right, connect the harness you got from "Power6" white (+) wire to that empty slot. And then pin#5 is right under it, connect the green (-) wire from the harness to that empty slot and you are done! Here we got the wires from "Power6" these make the job so much easier. In my Original Post I pretty much worked with what I had on hand. This looks so much cleaner and OEM. Last edited by ZURCALED12; 04-22-2013 at 02:41 AM. Reason: pictures |

Yes, the wires need to be a little bit longer, like 3 inches longer. I will measure them when I am done. Having fun doing this to my subie!

Yes sir, just working a few things with ZURCALED12 we need to get the length just right, and there is the question of wire thickness, I may make a couple sets once length is set and send you out one to test too.

No doubt! Thanks so much gents, this is great news!!
You're right, there's not much juice flowing to the turn-signal bulb, what you've got posted above from Power6 looks fine (gauge wise.) Thanks again Zurcaled12 & Powe6, this will make a nice addition to the XV. |
