Mystified by my clutch.
I just picked up a wrx with a 6spd swap and a burnt clutch. I was a bit surprised when I pulled it out and saw that the clutch looked relatively new but very burnt. Plenty of clutch material left but extremely glazed and the pressure plate and flywheel black, blue, and purple
I proceeded to install a brand new clutch and flywheel. I get the air out of the slave cylinder and ready to test drive. The car will barely move with the clutch engaged and there is a high pitched whining noise.

Obviously, the previous owner beat the crap out of the car before they sold it to you.
What brand clutch? Did you buy a 5MT or a 6MT clutch kit? Did you replace the Pilot and Throwout bearings? Did you use an OEM Throwout bearing? |

I wonder if the clutch fork is the problem ?
Did it by chance fall off the pivot ball while you were moving the tranny around to install it ? That happened to me once with a 5mt. But I couldn't even get it to go into a gear with the engine running. Go back over everything you did, hopefully something will pop out at you. |

Have had mechanics install wrong throwout bearing before and when I took it back they couldn't figure it out. I was right there the whole time they kept trying different combinations. Then near the end of the day I said, " Are you sure you put in the correct throwout bearing? ". Sure enough, that was the issue. |

I'm beginning to wonder if I have a trans/differential issue. I feel like the input shaft is turning but the wheels aren't.... |

Start car Have buddy either under car or in driver's seat so one of you can apply gas while the other watches what happens. You obviously only need a little gas to determine if your suspicions are correct. |
