if you even glanced at the info...the choice is obvious...
posting this question here isnt going to get anywhere since this is a subaru board...and everyone is biased in favor of subaru. plus this should be a poll. and if the choice isnt obvious to you...its the STi. compare the specs. |

mitsubishi WILL sell more evolutions than subaru will sell STis. even if the price is the same. why? because of advertising. it's sad, but the real enthusiasts will buy the subaru, except for the die-hard DSM guys. but that's ok. they're both good cars. but the subaru is better. no question about it.

IMO the Mitsu is UGLY!
Friggin Pontiac Sunfire looking front end! I miss the old EVO IV and V styling personally. I'll take the STI hands down...more power, more control, more SUBARU! hehehe Plus I don't like mitsu's corporate decisions or the SCCA Rally drivers who are sponsored or drove the EVO's last year...they're all jerks mostly, whereas I had no problems with many of the Subaru drivers or even Hundai. i've always been a DIE HARD evo fan...
but since the new STi is out, along with these crazy spec, STI all the way.... the USDM evo plain suck. no 6 spd, AYC or ACD and 29HP less then the STi.... i think we have a winner here... |

I'll agree with everyone else so far and go with the STi, more power, more refinement, better looks, DCCD. I pity da foo who buys da Evo. George |

A better question is : WRX or EVO?
Certainly there ain't much choice if you're looking at the STi. The EVO is certainly good value compared to the WRX. Subaru needs to come out with a WRX+ model to compete. |

My car is coming soon. Think it's too late to find a subaru dealership to be #1 on list?
As of now STI seems like the better car based on specs. Expect i'm concerned with the sti's weight One factor that could dissappoint us all. |

I thought I read that the STi will weigh less than the current-gen WRX, but that might have been old (or foreign market) information being re-relayed... I'll have to go check my sources...

STI all the way!
Even if I wanted an Evo they don't sell them up north! Now if only I could afford a STI! |

Well based on JDM specs of the EVO VIII GSR and WRX STi, the STi is about 20Kg heavier in the 2.0L format at about 1440Kg (3168Lbs.) My guess is the US spec in base trim won't pass 3225Lbs.
Also you are correct in thinking the regular WRX's weigh in less than the bug-eye models. The JDM spec WRX sedan with 5MT come in shy of 3000Lbs. Not too shabby. I also totally agree on a manufacturer performance package. Something to boost specs to the area of 250-260 hp would be more than respectable. |
