Default Anyone added a wing to a wing-less WRX?

I have found a great deal on a used WRX, but it does not have a factory wing, which I really want. Has anyone drilled the holes for a spolier or had a dealer do it? How was it? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Jason

I have an aftermarket wing, i just had a guy at a local body shop do it, it turned out fine, my friend had his prelude done at honda dealer, they did the same quality, but more money. I would recomoend getting a different wing than the stock one just because i hate the stock one.

My aftermarket wing was no problem for my body shop. They removed the stock wing, ran some wires and put my new one on.

If you are looking for a MBP wing to go with your new rex, give me a yell

I had mine installed at the dealer. I was a little skiddish about drilling holes in it, you only get one chance. But, more importantly, I was concerned about replacing the springs. It takes a special tool and can be dangerous. I can just see going to the hospital impaled on a one of those things. "...it's just a flesh wound, I've 'ad worse" Besides, what they charged was a lot cheaper than a visit to the emergency room.

I had the stock wing but kinda grew tired of it so I swapped trunks with a wingless owner. I ordered a version 5 replica from www.autoearth.com. I ordered from a guy named Acken and I must say I have never had better communication with an online vendor before. He answered all my e-mails quickly and got me a great deal on this wing: $400 (painted rally blue, and shipping included from Canada to NYC). Supposedly these guys provide spoilers to dealers in their area so I decided to give it a go. I will comment on the quality of the wing/paint job once I recieve it. Good luck.

I installed the oe wing on my rex. It came with pretty complete instructions. One word of caution- the templates were off by a little bit- I'm a little anal and made several measurements and caught this. Measure twenty times- drill once. Personally I wouldn't want anyone else to install it as I don't think they would be near as careful as someone w/ their own car.

It's not a hard install, just take your time.

My dealer (South Coast Subaru, Costa Mesa CA) did a great job mounting my Wings West Prowing. It was wingless before that.

I was concerned too, but it was in good hands.

I forgot about the springs. Did you all change your springs? How much did the dealer charge to install the wing?

Dealer in Atlanta charged around $125 for installation. If you don't change the springs the trunk won't stay open.

Default used to be wingless

I just installed a apr wing last night. I took me about 45 min. My wing had pedistals so i just lined up the wing with the pedisals in place . took off the wing, then drilled through the holes where the pedistals sit. no problems and the wing looks great IMO. Alot of you guys would think it would look "rice" but i like it.

How many holes do you have to drill for the factory wing? Is it the same for a Version 5/7?

Thanks!

A little off the topic, but you are talking about changing springs, when installing new heavier (I guess) wings.

What is this? where are this springs? Do the old imprezas (GC8) have them too.

I need to know, because I will be installing some audio equipment and a wood panel on my trunk lid, And I have to figure out a way to make it stay open. I still haven't though about it, because the panel is not ready, But If you can help me out, give some ideas.

Thanks for your help.

I ended up getting the ociari wing from cc-b automotive....http://www.cc-b.com

Its a phat wing, and I'm gonna have my local body shop guy install it. He quoted me 200 painted and installed. I trust him because I've seen his work, and he's done work for me before...

Bumping to the top and asking if anyone has bought a V5 from AutoEarth and installed it on a GC8? I'm curious as to how the install went. Does it bolt to stock holes? Is there drilling required? Does it cover the stock holes? Anything you can throw my way would be super greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete
