2002 WRX Cruise Control
As anyone had trouble with their cruise not working? I was heading down the interstate last night when I tried to set the cruise and it wouldn't work. The light on the dash was on, but it won't set. Any ideas?

Didn't they have a recall on the older Imprezas for cruise control? I think the recall involves installing a clip to prevent something from coming loose.

i've found that in older subaru's if you don't use the cruise control often sometimes it stops working. Usually just messing with the switch and turning it on and off a few times seems to get it to work again. My WRX and '05 legacy both did that, as did my moms 01 outback

I looked for what you're talking about, but I didn't see anything. Could you post a picture? Thanks

Ask and you shall receive SEdgell........
Literally just did this fix. This pic shows the clutch compressed. The arrow shows a little nipple that should compress when the clutch is let out. There's a hole in the clutch arm that is normally blocked off by a small plastic plug, but over time the plastic plug wears down and falls out which allows the nipple to pass through the clutch arm. That is what happened to me. This pic is looking up at the top of the clutch arm from near the gas pedal. In order to fix this, all I did was find a nut and bolt that would fit into the hole to block the nipple from passing through. The top arrow is the nipple, and the bottom arrow is the nut and bolt I used to block it from sliding through the clutch arm when I release the clutch. This pic is looking straight up the footwell from the bottom of the clutch pedal, which you can see peeking in from the bottom of the photo. Sorry about the crappy pics. |
