Time will tell.

It will be good either way. They needed to do something to make it easier to follow the other cars.

I am not so positive about this....back in the day we had groundeffect cars, these were too fast for the corners, so they developed the tires with grooves.
I predict the same here; cars will be too fast for certain corners, one big crash, everybody has thoughts and prayers, we need to slow down, yadda yadda yadda, history repeats itself.

My solution: letīs make cars with almost zero downforce, but biggest wheels money can buy, 2000 hp engines, and steel brakes. This will be fun to watch.

I agree, chasing records is fast but certainly not as fun as good racing. Seems to me they prefer the current risk for a certain bit of car control.

You're not alone in wanting almost zero downforce. Been crying for that more than a decade now. I'd like to get back to the 50's-60's. relatively. Like four wheel drifting Jim Clark stuff.

If they want to be relevant they need to focus where cars matter. (If they're going to much longer) Flippy bits just aren't that.

Of course, if they did that. Each team would probably need an extra chassis or two for testing.

Haas would need maybe 5.

Pirelli, "we need to have 18" rims to be relevant"
F1 "Hubcaps, we'll add hubcaps to the 18" rims to make them even more relevant to today's performance car."

RedBull showed their showcar (that has nothing to do with their real car)

Why would they do that?

Losing Uralkali isn't going to kill Haas anyway.

Actually yes he will. He has the money and he can get other sponsors.
Micheal Andretti is trying like heck to get his own team into F1.
He tried to buy AR but they couldn't come to a deal.
He said he tried to buy Haas numerous times but Gene Haas would not sell.
Andretti said the Haas didn't care if he keep coming in last place. He is happy to be in F1.

On a side note. Andretti submitted an entry for a F1 team in 2024.

Americans want presence and representation in F1. Exposure to global market can bring in a lot of manufacturing money for Haas. And yeah, Haas has deep pockets.

I so want Andretti to start up a team and they'd be wise to do it in Mooresville/Charlotte area instead of Indy. Then they and Haas start up an American PU group and then I can move back to the states to keep doing my job.

I mean I know they won't do a PU company, but I can dream dang it!!

These cars are real porkers.
20 years ago these cars were about 600kg minimum weight
Now they are 798kg.
(425 lbs heavier).

So they now must weigh 1759.3 lbs. I seem to recall a time when they were around 1200lbs... ? If I'm not mistaken.

F1 has said that for 2022 the white line around the edge of the track is the 'track limit'.
Supposedly, that's for all corners at all tracks.
At least one tire must be on or inside that white line.
Just to help eliminate confusion, they said, "The white line is within the track limit; the curbs are not."
If this sticks, it's a good idea. We'll see.

Seems like a no-brainer call that they should have made years ago. Obviously the key will be whether they actually enforce it - as you said, we'll see!
