Default Aftermarket fog light kits for 2016 base

I see these online and on Ebay for $50-$55. Main question is, when you turn on the fog lights, are the high beams automatically turned off? This would be a state inspection requirement. And are they plug and play, or do they have to be programed at the dealer to work? Anybody point me to a specific kit to buy? Stock looking so no LED. Thanks.

after the fact Fogs, usually don't turn off the High beams as they are run through a different switch/circuit/relay making them standalone. I'm sure there are kits out there that will allow the fogs to operate like OEM, but I don't have enough knowledge on the subject to point you to the exact kit

Usually the high beam "ON" deactivates the fogs, not the fogs deactivating the high beams.

I'm sure the high beam relay can be wired in such a way that when it is energized, it opens the fog light circuit, thus deactivating the fogs. Who knows, it might just be one relay under the hood that does it, but I need to dig a lot deeper to find out for myself.

I only have a '19 base, so no fogs for me.

I bought the factory switch, switch panel and relay from a Subaru dealer for $55 and installed them. The wiring is already there. The fog light icon in the cluster now works. Will get some $40 aftermarket lamps and bezels to finish it.

Those cheap $60-$80 kits sold on Ebay or SS which say they DOT legal are BS. They are ghetto wired into the fuse box and not integrated into cars' headlights.

From what I’ve seen the 2106 wrx base is the only model not wired for fogs. I didn’t see a connection anywhere near the fog location either when my bumper was off. I have the Stock switch and the stock relay but I think I will have to buy an H11 wiring kit somewhere to install. Just not sure how to wire to stock relay location. Can anyone confirm that has done the ‘16 base?

Mine is a '16 base. The wiring is there and is clipped to the body behind the bezels and also goes to the turn signal lights. You can connect it plug and play by buying the two $25 wiring harness adapters from Subaru or just tap into it with some wiring taps.

If your using the factory relay and switch connection and just tap in to the 2 wires for each light it should function as factory fog lights. This will let the fogs be on with low beams and automatically be shut off if you turn the high beams on.

I have a 2019 Impreza and did the factory fog light add on...Switch, Relay and Fogs. They function as if they were installed from the factory
