Good place for HG work.
In the Mid Hudson NY area, should I ever need to farm out my own vehicle, where are good places to go for head gasket replacement?
Other than high priced dealers that is? I would normally tackle things myself, but, getting older, and it being freezing out, I relish such challenges less and less.

There are a host of reputable shops in the general NY/NJ area that can do that.
AZP Installs, Prime Motoring, Precision Tuning are all in NJ, a bit south of you and are all heavily mentioned here. I have personally had multiple great experiences dealing with MR Performance in Mineola Long Island. They've fixed a few issues that were almost unidentifiable to me. It's a bit of a ride for you, but worth dealing with someone honest and knowledgeable. |

As mentioned above, I always give my vote for AZP Installs. I've been going there for years. Solid shop but it's a bit far from you.
Maybe The Shop in CT. It's roughly 90 mins from Hudson NY and they deal lots with Subarus. I haven't had any repairs done there, but I had my tuned by Mike Botti there and the owners were great. |

Just look for a local shop thats been there for years with a lot of subarus outside that are not there long.
It can be done in a long day if all goes perfect ( +12hrs ) if your familiar with the job . Usually something slows you down and it turns into a 2 day deal keep in mind it will work out to over $125-150 an hour on average without parts. A friend and i do Subaru HGs for people we know and usually charge $1500 with gaskets & bolts, plus oil & antifreeze and it takes a weekend without big issues. |
