Nothing exciting, but swapped the cabin filter and fuse door to a little cubby in my WRX.
Applied some hard felt inside the cubby so that my USB charger does not rattle inside and transferred the fuse label as well.

1. Scheduled my flight to go pick up a pretty mint '05 STI on Friday.

2. Bought almost $2000 in parts.

- New timing belt and water pump (AISIN kit)
- Killer B Oil Pan, Pickup and Baffle Tray
- Accessport
- IAG Street AOS v3
- Koyorad Radiator
- Grimspeed Radiator hoses
- Tomei Turbo Inlet
- NGK Irridium Spark Plugs
- New OEM Boost Control Solenoid
- New OEM MAF sensor
- FactionFab Pitch Stop Mount

3. Emailed a local Subaru specialty shop to get a quote on the work I can't easily do myself. (About $1600 for everything - $180 for spark plugs and $180 for the pitch stop mount, so I'll just do those myself. Spose I could do the turbo intake on my own, too, but I'll probably throw something seeing how frustrating it is to get it under the manifold).

4. Cried at my credit card balance

Just got a new to me 2011 Impreza 2.5 auto, 19 days later...engine blown. Mechanic told me the harmonic balancer pully spun and shredded the crack shaft where it attaches. So now I'm out 4500 for the car and I'm told it needs a new engine..so now its scrap.

Took my WRX out for a nice drive and cleaned her up using waterless (Griot's).

Default What'd you do to your subie today?

Replaced the in tank fuel filter on my Saabaru. Also, installed a brand new factory oem short shifter and sprayed LPS 3 rust inhibitor all under the car, wheel wells and front of the car in anticipation of the coming salted road driving.

Replaced timing belt, water pump, etc., plus new AC and Alt belts. 2nd time for timing belt, car only has 88k miles but 19 years, 8 months old, so changed because of age not miles.

Whiteline swaybar/end link kit + WALK anti-lift kit going on hopefully end of this week once they arrive. Swaybar kit was backordered and have been waiting for about 6 weeks.

Ordered a Perrin turbo inlet and BPV last Friday. All of the WFH (work from home) and Zoom calls causes impulse buys when I come across a sweet deal...

Went on a drive with family up to the UFO Skyline, where Toyota recently filmed a Corolla commercial. I think Nissan has as well in the past.

New oem wiper blades. Bought a pair on amazon for $25. Horrible that the dealer doesn't sell just the refill blades anymore, any idea why?

I used up my last refill inserts last year and had to buy the whole blades earlier this year. I asked why and the parts lady did not know why.

Worked a little more on what apparently had been an unusually corrosive bird dropping. Better than it was yesterday, but still not completely gone.

And I finally got around to resetting the clock for the return to Standard Time. Kind of a PITA, being buried a couple layers deep in a menu, with a process that starts out by talking about the "instrument panel" when where they want me to look is in the "center stack". Turned off other stuff I don't care about while I was in there, though.

Default 12k gone awry

Took in my ‘19 for the 12k.

Not three blocks away smoke came pouring out. Turned right around. Popped the hood and oil had been spraying EVERYWHERE.

Dealership has been great at taking care of me. I’m in a loaner next few days as they re-do the oil change, replace the hood and side liners, and detail the engine, engine bay, and all points in between.

Did I mention oil went everywhere?

I’ll be doing an oil analysis in about 2k miles. Make sure my engine is a-ok.

Any idea where the oil was coming out from?

from his photo, looks like its absolutely full around the oil filter. probably some "lube tech" with a limp wrist didnt tighten the filter.
