I picked up some lights from the local Costco. LED, non-replaceable bulbs and $19.99. I'll take some please. I've been slowly putting up more lights to get rid of my 8' T12's that are all burnt out. Do you know how hard it is to get rid of those damn bulbs?
I saw those on the AMMO NYC detaling YT channel a few weeks ago, he just built his dream detailing/podcast/YT studio and included those lights in the shop.

https://www.instagram.com/ammonyc

The 2 lights I hung were probably the same type, as they're non replaceable LED Shop Lights. I got them at the local Menards and they were cheap.

I believe this is what I have, but I'm not sure. It was the Smart Electrician brand:

https://www.menards.com/main/lightin...?tid=-1&ipos=1

My brother in law replaced the standard bulbs in his garage with these:

https://www.menards.com/main/electri...?tid=-1&ipos=4

I only have 1 bulb in my ceiling that's a standard bulb type, so it probably won't help a ton, but it might be worth it for that of the garage.

This. You could probably get a little more drop by loosening the connections and sliding them down a bit if there’s room.

I replaced the bulb in my garage with an outlet, then plugged two 4ft florescent fixtures into it.

The costco end to end tubes sound good, it would be nice to add another set and have light closer to the door.

Anyone have a 30 inch induction cooktop they like? We're going to replace our crappy glass electric.

This is the way to go^^^^

A year or two ago I converted the 20yr old tube fixtures in my garage to LED tubes....enormous difference!

I've been slowly converting the ones in my workshop over. I need to order another 8-pack. I love them.

For garage lights, I bought similar to these and they’re pretty damn good. Like the angle aspect and are super bright

We got ours from IKEA, which is a rebranded Whirlpool with a five year warrant. It has been 4 years and we have had no issues other than occasionally it won't work with one of the pans even though it worked before.

I love the precise temp control and the ability to boil a huge pot of water in less than 10 minutes. Also, only where the pot touches the cooktop it gets hot and it shuts off automatically (can be a gripe at times). Another annoying thing is, if your pan gets too hot, like you are searing a steak in a cast-iron pan, it will shut off until it cools down enough. Downside is, you have to have Induction compatible cookware (if a magnet sticks to the bottom, it works), and that may leave your cookware choices somewhat limited. We solved that by buying some pots and pans from IKEA, as well. they were cheap enough that if something went wrong with them they are not too painful to replace. Also, there are more and more induction ready cookware out there these days.

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/induc...ooktops-20813/

I see that prices have come down. We paid $999 in 2016. Our model is no longer there, but there are now two options.

One thing you have to be careful with LED lights in the garage: Some of them interfere with the openers.

Interesting. Since moving into the house in May, I replaced all the bulbs in the garage other than the ones in those light boxes with LED and almost every time I come home and open the garage, the door opens about 3-5 inches and stops and I have to press the button on the opener again. I hadn't factored in the LED lights interfering with the opener.

That would only be a factor when the lights are on??

I put LED bulbs into the lights in the actual garage door opener unit, that turn on when the unit turns on. I wonder if there are specific brands of LED bulbs that don't interfere with the opener.

We've had a GE Profile for 5 years. Last spring it went 'pop' and started throwing an error code. The parts to repair it were more than it cost new so we bought a Frigidaire Gallery model. The controls on it were a pain with a sliding touch pad instead of just up down arrows like the GE.
We found a guy that would repair just the failed components on the circuit boards on the GE for about $300 so we had it repaired and it's been working great since. I made a post about it awhile back showing what he did.
It's a common problem for the IGBT's on the Generator board to fail on all models it seems.

That's probably the issue. Easy enough to test, unscrew the LED bulb and see if you still have the issue. If so replace with an incandescent bulb.

Don't know if there are LED bulbs that don't interfere. Haven't looked into it. I've got 4 or so incandescent bulbs earmarked for my opener. So that will probably last me until I die.

I think so. It depends on the LED shielding. Cheaper ones without shielding interfere with the opener signal as far as I remember.

I do have one of these Costco shop lights, too, and ever since I hung it up, I get occasional non-compliance from the opener when I hit the remote. Happens only on the side where the light is installed. The other side is unaffected. This happens when the light is off.

Yes. That is an actual problem. You have to find the specially shielded LED bulbs to install in the opener. I did the same thing you did, and my opener with the new light stopped responding completely. removed the bulb, and I was back in business. I still don't have a replacement. A regular bulb I put in there did not work, so there is a problem with the light itself (or the socket)

You can still use the cheap LED bulbs. Before you install them, wrap the base of the bulb with aluminum foil and it will shield the LED power circuit.

yeah, I looked at Menards site and they have $8 shielded LED bulbs for garage openers. I think I'd need 2 or 3 of them, not too bad, but not super cheap. Good thing Menards has been running an 11% rebate going on all the time. I've got some rebates due to me soon, maybe I'll grab a few and try them.

We have a really high end Kenmore Elite induction range that we love, and will never go back.

We got it second hand from a family remodeling the kitchen for a great price, and my only complaint is that when you are running multiple coils at high power with larger pots or pans it can get quite noisy, that's usually only when we're trying to boil large pots of water and use the large skillet right next to it.

So it is just an issue installing LED bulbs in the opener itself? I am thinking of installing LED lights on the ceiling of my garage, to replace the failing florescent tube lights.

It's definitely an issue to install in the opener itself. However, as I stated above, after I installed the LED shop light from Costco, the opener closer to the light has been functioning intermittently. Now it could be the opener itself, but I don't remember having similar issue before installing the shop light. Again, the opener is kind of close to the light, so your situation may be different.

Yeah, I think we're gonna buy a new dishwasher, it's the only appliance our home came with we don't like. Probably just hook it up then.
