Is my 2.5rs really a 2.5 liter?
I've been reading up on the car we just got but I'm not sure whether or not my car is really a 2.2 or 2.5 liter.... its a 2000 impreza 2.5 rs. i know 2.5 is in the name but it seems like i've read somewhere that it's really just a 2.2 liter. In this case, is it possible to put a turbo charger on the 2.2 or will it not be able to handle the load. any help is appreciated, sorry for my lack of knowledge

Yes, it really is a 2.5 liter engine. There are (were) plenty of threads about turbocharging this engine (hint: search).

Wait what?
It's a 2.5... unless a previous owner is uber 1337 and dropped a 2.2t in there. Anyways, you can read on the block what it is... like "EJ25". The displacement has no effect on how much boost you can run. The stock EJ25 is best at 5-6 psi because of the block design and compression. There are plenty of people, including myself, that have turbo'd the EJ25. You can turbo anything you want as long as it's managed properly. -Brett |

yes it's a 2.5L
People have turbo'd them but there are a lot of issues that go along w/ it. Despite there being turbo kits, some think its better just do do an engine swap. Try searching.. heres a thread to get you going http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=115053 |

The Ganzflow cold air intake is relatively inexpensive and works well.
