Subie Newbie Help!
whats up guys!? Now please go easy on me in advance lol Just picked up my AP last week and had a few questions. After purchasing my 09 wrx from a local dealership a few months back, I noticed that the car had a few modifications ie catless downpipe, aftermarket exhaust, and air intake. The car had a cable im assuming from an older ap but not sure if the car was tuned previously; I was wondering if it is a bad idea to load a map from the v3 over any possible preexisting (maps/tunes) or if you recommend a pro tune first; Really not trying to damage this car in anyway and love the new AP! Thanks!

So first off, it's illegal for a dealer to sell you a car without a cat. If you load a map off your AP that matches your modifications, it would be fine. The AP doesn't have any catless maps so I'd say you're stuck paying a tuner.

GotWRX88,
what country are you in? maybe its not illegal to buy a car without a cat there. but in most places it would be. fill out your location in your profile. it will help people to help you. we cant tell you how much a pro tune might cost if we dont know what currency you use. it does seem like you will need professional tuning help to avoid damage. Everyone else, can you overwrite an ECU with an accessport if someone else already married a different accessport to it? |

Im currently in South Carolina lol So I read through the COBB website and it stated that if there was an existing map preloaded on the car that it would prompt and ask if you wanted to over ride which it didn't when I married the AP to the car which again I found interesting.

can you clarify:
it didnt ask if you wanted to over write? or it didnt over write? but you were successful in marrying an accessport? if it had a tune on it specific to the mods it has, an off the shelf tune might not be compatible |
