Default OBD1 help

I have an obd1 95 impreza. I really would like to use an app like dashcommand or torque. Could I use the 9 pin diagnostics with an adapter to obd2 and have that work. If so where would the pins go? I know some LS guys convert their obd1 port to an obd2 port and are able to use those apps, and I want to do the same.

Edit: I see that there are 9 pin to 16 pin obd2 adapters. I assume if I got the pinout for the adapter I could just make my own. Don't feel like waiting months for it but I will.
